I've had enough. I'm doing away with all these stupid spammy ads. They annoy me to no end and I've gotten complaints. I do NOT want to please advertisers at the expense of wrongplanet members. WrongPlanet members will *ALWAYS* come first and I think that the ads are getting to the point that members are finding are getting a worse experince because of them.

Alex, I have learned to simply ignore (ie, the if-I-don't-pay-attention-to-it, it's-not-there attitude) most of the ads and the text-only ones are perfectly fine. But have you decided what you're going to do about the animated ads?

Not to put you on the spot or anything, but I think that the flash ads is an issue that should be resolved sooner rather than later- especially since those can cause medical problems (seizures, migrane headaches) is some people.

Alex, in getting rid of the ads, Have you also lost the top right box with the most recent forum threads? Now THAT I found very useful.

Text ads were perfectly fine... The only thing I had a real problem with was the flashing ads that somehow managed to slow down my 2.08GHz computer so that I had trouble scrolling...

so right now you only have sidebar ads and ads at the bottom, if none of them are ever so ridiculously animated that they slow my surfing down and we have no more lewd ads that people were complaining about, I think the site is in good shape!

The site isn't in good shape. But it will be once FBI Arrest (Fury) arrives!

Ah, speaking of which I have managed to break about five guys named Fury out of prison (with the help of Miss Hecate and Lazy-Jane of course!) I hope it was worth it to you, it was pretty risky breaking them out! I gave them your name, picture and home address so they should be swinging by any day now

I've never had too many problems with the Ads, I just ignored them, except when they slowed down my computer bad. But I know quite a few people are glad to see them go.

Can't wait for the big reveal...

If you're talking about getting rid of the flashing ones, then I couldn't be happier. :jester:

Some of these ads could carry Spyware with them anyway.

Its a good idea.
This is an Asperger's community and sensory overload issues, and all.

I don't have a problem with you making gobs of money, that would be great, and i am rooting for you.
its just that after you have gobs of money that i won't be.

How did the Google ads work out for you? As a visitor, I like them because they're less intrusive, and they're actually relevant to the site. When they were on here before, I clicked several that caught my interest.

And on the site I run, we briefly tried replacing the Google ads with the same kind of "Click the monkey and win a free RAZR!" BS. Our daily ad revenue went from over 50 dollars, to 50 *cents*.

If you put AdSense boxes in all the spots where the spammy crap ads are now, I think you'd be much better off. And I think a lot of your visitors would be happier. Personally, I don't come here as much anymore, solely because of the annoying flashy animated ads that are plastered all over the place.
