My advice to you Dilbert is that if an interest is fun and doesn't hurt other people---then pursue the interest. One thing I have noticed with my AS is that I have my regular intense interests, but I also get these interests that come along for short intervals that I may never pursue again. Right now, I have been interested in Abraham Lincoln's family and the tragedy of the early deaths of three of his four sons.

Dilbert, you might find Neal Stephenson's novel Cryptonomicon interesting if you haven't already read it. It's about codebreakers in WW2. Here's a link to the Wikipedia article about the book:
