I thought it might be amusing to have a contest to re-name Asperger's syndrome in order to re-brand it so it's not as susceptible to parodies such as in the infamous (but hilarious) Encyclopedia Drammatica article:
http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Autism

Quote:
also known as Asperger's, Ass Burgers, Assburpers, BAWWWWWWtism, loltism, Stuttering ADD, NOTism, cerebral lawlzy, whiny b***h syndrome, or Emo Syndrome

As offensive as you may find these terms, they do show a great deal of creativity and ingenuity. My brother and I are prone to fits of uncontrollable laughter at the phrase "Ass-burglars". :lmao:
Also, I think there is something to be said for the article itself. It is meant to be parodic and satirical in nature, and the people who whine about how offensive it is are missing the entire point of the article, which *gasp* is actually written by staff members on ED who have Asperger's themselves. It also humorously highlights some negative tendencies of the higher-functioning autistic population, most of which I am guilty of myself at one time or another in my life:

Using AS as an excuse to be rude, selfish or offensive
Not taking personal responsibility for your problems and then blaming them on others
Inflicting internet dumbassery upon other people
Becoming too easily offended or outraged by things
Claiming superiority over NTs or being smug

So basically you should take the article with a grain of salt and stop calling for it to be banned, etc. because it just makes us look like we're overreacting. A lot of Aspies even enjoyed the article:
