I watched it back in good old 1997, seems to directly relate to the whome parent issue right now when I was with the girl they didn't approve. I remember the beginning of the movie where his dad would say "you are lucky boy, very lucky". My parents are similarly supportive, until it comes to my doing something against their will.

I once mentioned that movie to my girlfriend, she hasn't seen it. Kind of weird, since she typically knows far more movies than I do. Could it be that she is younger than me so she wasn't around in 1997 to watch it?

I have watched it. Edit: I thought I had it on VHS, but seems that I don't.

I've seen "Shine" a couple of times -- once, before my son's diagnosis, and then again after. Good movie, for sure.

What I find interesting about the movie is the concept that this gifted child seemed relatively normal before college, and then he has this "break" because of pressure during college, and it seems as if only after that, he has autistic tendencies. Am I the only one that felt this way? It's just interesting.
