How would you interpret the classification moderate classic autism? I know I am not low-functioning, but I am not mild either. Aside from saying something vague like "something that is in between mild and severe" what would you consider to be moderate classic autism?

Moderate sounds like average to me. Maybe you fall into the average symptoms of Classic Autism?

Or it could mean neutral?

Don't consult me, I'm only 15.

I don't really know the traits that go along with it.

See: My childhood.

I think it would be a mixture of having some self help skills but strongly relying on other people as well.
As a child I was dressed until I was 7 or 8. I needed people to turn on taps for me. People made food for me and there were some cases where people had to ask me if I was hungry because I didn't know how to just get my own food if it was in the cupboard.
I could talk though talked very little to my family and not at all to other people.
I learnt very little in school and though I knew some students playing and hanging out was detached. Usually I just hung around with my sister and friends and got ridiculed by them.
I was petrified of using the phone or answering the door.
Dressing was always hard. I would be sitting there for an hour with some pants on the bed and not be able to get into them. As for hygiene...well I found out at camp when I was 12 that people usually showered more than once a week.
A strong dislike of change and not knowing how to navigate myself throughout my own town past my own street.
Completely preoccupied in my own world and not noticing much around me or having a basic amount of general knowledge. I was just completely absorbed by my interests.
And I was like this until my late teens and slowly became more high functioning, then regressed late last year.

As for the you-can't-put-functioning-labels-on-autism brigade - I will not be assimilated to thy ways.

Regardless of the nine hundred OTHER labels that have been put on me (this one included!)... I consider myself to be moderate functioning/classic autism.

I have a LOT of trouble with verbal communication... but you know about that so I won't spell it all out again
I don't read any body language at all
I have a lot of self injurious behaviors
I have major memory malfunctions... no memory for speech at all
I am not social, except online. I totally ignore people for the most part.
I'm VERY immature and childlike
I will ONLY watch Food Network, 24/7 almost. I had a meltdown because I watched half of a movie on my computer tonight and turned FN off. That's my adherence to routine.
I have intense anxiety. No, like, REALLY intense.
I rock, I bite/chew, I am obsessed with water and being in it
I have sensory issues to the point that I can't distinguish input... basically, like synesthesia, but really just messed up sensory system.

Average...

I guess that would just mean you have the traits and they're obviously there, but they're neither mild nor severe. At least, that's what I'd assume if that's what my doctor said to me.

I don't see that it has much relevance, though, because "moderate" is too vague a term to predict anything by. More specific statements will give you more information.

Yes, that is probably why I am more confused now than I was before. I think my report will be more detailed, though, and hopefully will illuminate how both mild and severe were excluded.
