So, apparently, I'm a very angry person...

Last month I took a job assessment test that measured my personality and the types of jobs/careers the would be suitable for me.

Today I had a meeting with the person who coordinated the test, and he showed me an entire packet with extremely thorough measures of my personality. It said that I preferred order and routine and that I was very independent. While I was expecting those results, what I definitely was not expecting was for the results to declare that I had extremely high anger and stress levels. Not only that, but 60% of all aspects of my life today are influenced by anger, or something like that.

I guess I learned something new about myself by taking that test. :o

I'm curious - do you remember the name of the test?

I'm similarly worried about taking Myers-Briggs or Birkmann at work...

I didn't even know that I was such an angry person. I mean, I knew that I had tendencies to be very moody, and that any little thing could raise my anger/stress levels, but I never really considered myself to be an overly-angry person.

I'm pretty sure it's a legitimate test. It was recommended by my rehabilitative service. It's from a firm called Humphries Consulting.

Plus, all the results of the test seemed to be pretty accurate measures of my personality and work ethics. The test was also free of charge.

:D My Asperger diagnosis includes the lines:

Quote:
Rorshach results confirm the presence of depression. Indications of oppositional tendencies are also present and are associated with underlying feelings of anger and resentment towards people and towards the world in general, including negativity towards authority.

Wow...all that because I saw a mushroom cloud in an ink blot? 8O

I know I get stressed out easily. I have sensory issues, sensitive emotions, and there are several symptoms that make me want to kick myself. Let's not forget explosive Hulkish meltdowns and trying to keep those in just adds to the stress.

There is the possibility that the "test" is complete BS and the results don't mean anything.

It seems like that kind of testing is very popular among employers these days, and I'll bet there's no shortage of charlatains around ready to sell them something with little or no credibility/validity.

Just becuase some standardized test says something. It doesn't neccessarily mean it's true. They are based upon assumptions and stereotypes. Nobody knows yourself better then you.

Now me on the other hand. I am full of anger, bitterness and resentment. I don't need test to tell me that.

I've had people tell me that I appear angry. One of the people who told me I look angry has had issues with other people mistakenly thinking that he seems too angry! I do sometimes get genuinely angry, but much of the time people are mistaken when they think I'm angry. Usually I'm just tired, overloaded, or for whatever other reason my face doesn't match what I'm experiencing. I had an old driver's license photo in which my face and expression look like some of the famous video snippets of Timothy McVeigh, and I didn't like it. I'm glad my photo looks different now.

We did a class project on Rorschach test, and I saw a samurai in one of mine.

Yeah. I had to see a severly incompentent phytratist and just because I did not agree with him and was angry about him trying to force me to take poison and have me commited if I did not, I was bipolar. He didn't even try to figure out why I was so depressed and tense, he just wanted to dope me up.

The funny thing is, I can't argue with the conclusion - I think they were spot-on.

I thought this would be self-evident to almost every decent human being on this planet by now, but apparently not.

People aren't angry ENOUGH. Those who are direct their anger towards the wrong entities.

For once in 5000 years, it might be nice if some REAL anger was directed towards the greedy, sociopathic, anti-human, ecocidal, war-mongering, racist, sexist, authoritarian, homophobic, hedonistic, nihilistic, etc......institutions and individuals who have made "civilization" the living hell that it is.

the cartoonist Gary Larson said "many people mistake a short memory for a clear conscience." add "limited mentality" to that. the bulk of humanity pay no attention to the men behind the curtain, they just live their provincial, circumscribed and "entertained-to-death" lives and pay no heed to anything outside the borders of their conscience and consciousness. the evil intelligences of this world of primitive humans, are so large as to be invisible to the bulk of people. just thinking about a sufficient number of the true evils of this world is enough to give one a coronary. conveniently, sports and religion are opiates of the masses and have long been this way, so if you took those two things away from us, lord have mercy- there would be anger, all right.

I remember taking one of those tests. It surprised me, when the person who administered that test told me something, that I didn't believe. She told me that I'm a conformist, which I wouldn't be, in a million years. Do you think that you're a really angry person? If not, than don't worry about it.
