I don't see the point of it. At all. Surely, as human beings, we should be trying to fit in with the rest of the world without all this 'pride' and victimhood crap?

I can understand that it might give a boost to many people; I'm not going to stop them having their fun. It doesn't suit me, though.

Hope the people who are going have a nice time, though. I wouldn't wish to deprive anyone of that.

I would feel the same way if it was womans day or black pride day. But this event might be a good thing. and if this gets aspies together. We will not know unless we give it a try.

That's what I'm wondering that same question. Was it embaresing or just something plan bad?

I volunteered to organise an event for autistic pride day in june this year.

The response generally, on this forum and another was very negative. Because people didn't seem to want me to organise something, or their attitude towards the event in general was that they wouldn't be interested in attending, I've decided that there's no point in my making the effort and organising an event if there's no demand for it, especially if people aren't even just neutral minded about it, but they're very negative.

I deleted the content because I thought if anyone was searching for the location nearer the time and what events were planned then it might be misleading to them and they might think I was still organising something when I'm not.

Ok that's fine with me. Just maybe you should next time should give warning when you're going to remove what you've written so that those of us who have no clue about what went on. So that we won't have to ask.

You didn't *have* to ask. You could have just assumed that the information was longer relevant/interesting/none of your business.

And don't tell me what I *should* do. I've been given enough grief over this issue elsewhere, thank you, I don't need you giving me a hard time as well.

I have noticed this phenomen that happens with organized groups that have a mandate to achieve some sort of social change. The groups always fail to achieve their stated aims, or the end result gets co-opted by the opposition. The phenomen that I have noticed is that the very action of people coming together results in good things happening, because whereever people come together they start to build authentic relationships and culture. These organized movements have postive results that are never stated in the original mandate, results that have more to do with personal relationships rather than overtly political ones. The originally stated political goals always fail in some way or another.
