Way before I was diagnosed with autism I was obsessed with shamanism so I'm interested in what that guy means in the autism reality documentary
http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt114120.html
when he says "your autism is your ticket to shamanism". I'm not too sure thats a ticket anyone would want but its interesting s**t all the same. Anyone know anything more about this? I have plenty of experience with psychosis, psychedelics, sleep paralysis, lucid dreams and other abnormal states and I've learned mass amounts of information in these states without ever intending on learning anything so I can't help but think I may be a shaman whether I like it or not.

I feel somewhat similar. My inability to be like everyone else has impelled me along the road less traveled. I've always had a great interest in 'spiritual' things, altered states, alternative or ancient cultures, psychedelics, magic, dreamwork etc. etc.

Pretty much, if an Aspie lived in culture with Shamanism then they would probably be pushed/drawn to that. What else would they be able to use the intellect for? Plus you can hide in your tent most of the time. Come out occasionally and rant something and go back in. Perfect if you ask me. Be better if the tent had internet though.

The 1st psychotic episode I had I had the idea that the human race was being herded like cattle by something outside the range of our direct perception and that I'd wandered so far away from the herd I was becoming a threat so they were using fear tactics to try and scare me back into the herd. The 2nd psychotic episode had a similar theme to it. Thats not too far from reality, I don't know about something herding us but the human race is like a herd of cattle and some of us (shamans, schizophrenics, people with autism) are like mad cows that don't follow the herd. We have perceivable examples of what we would be up against. Humans a so called more advanced organism locks animals in zoos, herd them for food/materials and experiment on them in labs. Do these animals have much chance of escaping the evil inflicted upon them? With some outside help they would. They might not have the power to free themselves but we have the power to free them don't we. Who knows maybe some beyond our range of perception will do the same for us. A gold fish has no way of escaping the bowl that someone puts it in. Not unless we decide to free it. I've encountered help from beyond whilst on salvia. It showed me my situation was analogous to a dog tied to a tree. It showed me how to break the rope. 8)

What does shamanism and being a shaman mean to you?

I had some very similar revelations a while back. My 'dog tied to the tree' thing I like to explain with the help of the Tarot... if you look at the image of the Devil card, you see that the chains around the necks of the people are loose... we 'dogs' tie ourselves to the 'tree' by our own volition... Also ties in with your conception of humanity as a kind of domesticated creature.

Devil (Maybe NSFW)

I have also seen a force that drives us to do the things we humans do. It can be anthropomorphised into a creature of sorts, and drugs sometimes do that for us. Some think it's a parasitic creature that inhabits us, or it's a force outside us that guides us for it's own purposes. I think seeing it in these forms is a way for us to comprehend something that naturally occurs in human behaviour. Some call it 'evil'.

Interesting you write that. I had a dream last night that humans are like a herd of sheep. I am living on a farm at the moment and have noticed the behaviours of some of the sheep, but then I had a sort of dream that people were pretty much just like them. I had some thoughts about it in the dream but I cant remember them now.

I also have tarot cards but I don use my main decks anymore, it scares me when I get some of the frightening looking cards. I tend to use my oracle decks these days.

It could perhaps be a dream triggered by memorizing/reading alot of what I have been posting lately, especially since ive been having more and more people are sheep statements plagueing my posts :/

im not sure what it is. I dont think I amthe first to think it though, even in the bible, Jesus is referred to as the Shepherd and the people as his flock.
