I can't even read the other threads or watch any of the videos posted on this subject. It infuriates me too much. I mean it makes me want to find the idiots that bully other kids, and thrash the hell out of them. It's scares the hell out of me how much and how fast rage begins to boil up inside me whenever I hear or read those stories. It probably doesn't help that I was bullied in school.

Anyone else bothered in the same way?

Anyone able to deal with it better than I? How do you do it?

My reaction is more of a 'slow burn', I get rage but I freeze up and have a deer-in-the-headlights kind of expression for a few minutes. If it's a story that's local, like in my school or one of the schools down the road I wonder if I know the bully lives around here and if I'm going to be next. Especially if the victim was disabled in some way, like if they were autistic.

It makes me feel uneasy, inside and it brings back memories of high school.

It makes me want to slam the bullies and the people that have the power to stop them and don'ts heads into the wall.

I have an awesome (non aspie) friend who did this to a bully over and over again once after that the bully was terrified of him.

I know many people are all into this wishy washy bullsh*t, but sometimes bullying really CAN be treated with violence.

It p***es me off too that it's still allowed to happen.

I studied Psychology and Criminal Justice in an attempt to better understand human behavior and (*idealism alert*) attempt to make the world a little more just than it is. I'm still working on both.

However, looking back over my experiences with being bullied, nearly everyone who victimized me got it back, in spades, one way or another:

-Flunked school
-Parents divorced and blamed them
-Sent to psych institution
-Fired (teachers)
-Died (one teacher in particular)

In my case, karma has been very kind. I wish it worked that way for everyone who's been bullied.

I am very sorry that you were, btw. Hope that didn't sound too hollow. I may be okay now, but I remember the hell I went through quite vividly.

I think every bully should be made to experience what he/she inflicts on others. Don't know if it'll change them necessarily, but.... :!:

Thats exactly what the principal at my primary school said when my sister got bullied years and years again. Its the stupidest attitude i've ever heard.

I've been mean as a kid once or twice, said bitchy things (although stuff I dis was silly and not servere, it was still wrong, and I think what stupid little brats kids are and how they need to be punished.), and I knew what I was doing. I've also been kind, and I knew what I was doing.

Kids f*cking know what they're doing.

I'm often bothered more by the way that the behaviour is largely accepted as normal and inevitable than by individual cases. Like probably most people on the receiving end, I've never understood the motivations of bullies and what they get out of it. I've heard all the explanations, sure, but that's not the same as accepting and empathising with them. It unnerves me to think about the bullies who grow into adults without ever learning to get over their hostile tendencies because they've always managed to get away with it, and continue to prey on people in more subtle ways.

My situation is similar in that I met a lot of the kids that bullied me within a few years of graduating. They all turned out to be fairly okay people, but what annoyed the hell out of me about most of them is that when they met me later, they acted as if nothing had ever happened. There was one exception, and ironically, he happened to be the ring leader of most of them in school. He actually apologized.

I question the fact that they didn't know any better. I believe they didn't, but what I want to know is why didn't they? Why on earth weren't those kids taught better than that? I was. My parents talked to me about bullying. If I had ever been caught doing the things they did to me, I would have answered to my father. I never bullied anyone. I respected my father too much.

Its common for bullies to turn out okay. I was often bullied by girls and fell out with other ones was a b***h to some then a b***h back etc.

A lot of these people turned out fine and were quite friendly in high school.

Some girls in high school will always look at me with disgust, they aren't bullies but they are b*tches.

Some people grow out of immature behaviour, some don't.

It makes me feel horrible because I know what I went through in school I hate the thought of others having to go through the same thing.

I have the same problem. Actually I have the same kind of reaction towards all forms of cruelty or injustice. I can't even watch a film like Schindlers List without being overcome with very dark/violent feelings. I know the message of those kinds of films isn't supposed to be something that stirs up rage and violent feelings but that's what it does to me. I think anger is a form of psychological defense against feelings if impotence/helplessness in the face of something so devastating, so grossly unfair. Its an extreme form of misplaced empathy. Anger can be a sort of intoxicating feeling as well. It's really hard to control sometimes.

reminds me of my own childhood, mostly.

It also makes me want to take every potential precaution possible for my own eventual kids; I totally expect them to be picked on unfortunately, as they'll likely take after me & my then-wife, my current girlfriend.

Thankfully I'll know how to handle it better in ways my own parents absolutely failed in this area.

The thing that irritates me about bullying is that is being exposed and reported in the media, will it be via television, radio, print and the
internet. When there is some form of bullying that is being reported in the media, the question is why? Especially if the victim is autistic and
has commited suicide or even homicide towards their tormentors. It should be done internally by the appropriate authorities.Having been
bullied in primary and secondary school,it does not make me very comfortable hearing these reports.

I just get mad. Schools aren't doing enough to help students that are being bullied.
