I have just changed the diagnosis on my profile from 'Have Aspergers - undiagnosed' to 'Not sure if I have it or not', because that is more honest. I think I might be BAP (Broader Autistic Phenotype).

You could keep what you did or change it to "other autistic spectrum disorder". If you never received a technical diagnosis what you did counts as correct though. :)

Family member with Asperger's is the only option I have that is officially correct as far as I know. I'm not happy with the wording of the options but then again, I'm picky about how things are phrased.

Have Asperger's-diagnosed - No, I've never been assessed but was assessed as SPD in the mid 70's.

Have Asperger's-undiagnosed- I think I fit the profile of PDD-NOS better because my behaviors are not disabling as far as basic self care.

Not sure whether I have it or not- Well, I am pretty sure I have something.

Other autistic spectrum disorder- Yes, I think so, but once again not diagnosed and where I would fall I'm not sure.

NT- No, and I never have been. I knew that before I had ever heard of AS. My brain works differently than the average person.

Family member with Asperger's- At last, something I can say with complete assurance, but still not happy with it because it implies nothing more than is stated.

I have a similiar issue Aimless.

My family member wasn't diagnosed with Aspergers, but Autistic Disorder. Although, now I'm learning that well-respected authorities consider HFA and AS the same thing. I'm still not comfortable saying my son has AS though, because he doesn't have the language acuity of the kids I know with AS. Maybe that will change..

For two years I had "Other autism spectrum disorder" because I fit it better because I had a speech delay and I was never a little professor nor read about my obsessions until I was ten. I wasn't like other aspies as books describe them but I finally changed it to Have Asperger's-Diagnosed because it's my diagnoses.

Actually, my son had a language delay that was acknowledged years before his AS diagnosis. When he was diagnosed, it was noted that his verbal scores were low and his performance skills were borderline savant, which is not what you'd expect with AS. Still, the doctor said he thought that the fact that his receptive language skills were good that he was going to go with AS.

I put changed mine from Have Aspergers - undiagnosed to Other Autism Spectrum Disorder because at the time I wasn't sure if I was HFA or AS and I was 7 coming up to 8 when I was diagnosed which left me pretty clueless.

I just used "other autism spectrum disorder" b/c I was diagnosed originally w/ autism, than it was changed to PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder)/an Autism Spectrum Disorder label I no longer see being used at 18 months. And no, I was never diagnosed with PDD-NOS. All my medical papers now say HFA or ASD.

There needs to be a "Neurodiverse" option for people who have ADHD or bipolar or whatever--you know, people who aren't autistic, but who definitely aren't NT either.

I've changed mine from "Other Autism Diagnosis", back to "Asperger's Diagnosed." My case is just a little more richer, than the majority of the people's here, but I still don't wish to be cured. I'm still an aspie. If I were a beer, I'd be Aspie Dark.

That would be quite fitting. Right now I have the "don't know" option.

Having a "Neurodiverse" option is a great idea.
