Viewing big screens vs small screens

I noticed that if I view something on a big screen I miss quite a bit of info. But if I view the samething on a small screen I retain more information. Anyone else get this? I noticed since getting a notebook as a primary computer I remember more information.

sorry, but i have found exactly the opposite. i miss out on many things if the screen is too small for me to see them.

I have to agree with auntblabby. I love a large image! I feel more immersed in what I'm watching that way. That's why my girlfriend and I went in together on a projector several months ago. The screen is a 4x8-foot sheet of press board that I painted flat white.

I love hand-held game consoles; especially the Sega Game Gear. Come to think of it, I've always tended to favour the more portable versions of things; TV/VCR Combi, laptop. I like things when they're small and close to me. They feel all the more personal.

I haven't really noticed much of a difference...for videogames and movies, I like to have everything fullscreen so there's less distractions.

But as for webpages, I like to keep them in smaller windows so I can multitask a little easier, and so there are smaller columns so everything is easier to read.

I find it hard to read on small screens. One of the reasons why i got a projector about a year ago. Recently i noticed that my GFX card could support two, so i got another one (2 x 80" next to eachother, see: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt131049.html ).

Reading os much easier on a large screen. On a small screen everything is so small and you have to increase the font in the browser to read some stuff, then reduce the size again to get the layout back, which is annoying. If you have an entire wall to read on, you do not have that problem. Multiple windows for browsing or maby a movie playing while you browse the webb to keep that ADD thing stimulated is nice to have.

Sure, i CAN use the 10" display on my Netbook, but its a PITA. It feels like trying to work on a bloody postage stamp!

Because of my failing vision, I need a screen large enough to not have deal with small print or having to scroll laterally, but I have difficultly while browsing for movies or whatever on my 32" TV because I cannot see detail well from a distance and I cannot "take it all in" while up close.

My 2 cents.

I like big displays. However, I think it is a matter of your natural field-of-view. If you can notice things out from the center of where you are looking, a larger display is nice because you can shift less important things off to the side but still be able to notice if something new happens.

However, if you focus like a laser on the very center of where you look, a big display will leave information unnoticed because you aren't looking directly at it. For those people, a small display works better.

however I bought a 32" which was clearly too big but I wanted to see a good example of my 1080p blu ray player....which I did and it was cool but I sold it because it had a dead pixel or two (I HATE DEAD PIXELS!)

since I have gone through a large amount of screen sizes from 15.6, 19, 20, 22, 32, 15, and now currently 10.1

I am loving my little netbook =)

Portability and battery life plus windows 7...(ya i know not full feature version but no problems thus far though a few options are mission there are round about ways to get what I want out of the OS)

N e ways...after reading the last post I think I'm coming to the realization that I enjoy little screens more than big screens. Because I do tend to focus in on a particular spot and the head turning from big screens begins to hurt my neck and they are usually brighter from the higher wattage flourescent it seems so they also hurt my eyes...(not completely sure it is because of a bulb difference)

That's my 2 cents anyways..
