Anxiety can be an unusual word, for example, many persons are anxious going to the dentist even when they brush regularly.

Is that normal anxiety?

Is that unusual anxiety?

If a person has an exam scheduled, studying over a period of time using spaced repetition can be better than trying to cram all the studying in the day before the exam. So the idea of preparation by studying in advance can reduce concerns a little.

If a person has something like undiagnosed central auditory processing disorder (CAPD), many interactions may create a lack of ease do to the subtle hearing/subtle word processing difficulty.

Once a person has a correct diagnosis, the person often feels a little better because of some understanding of what's going on.

Chamomile tea, quadruple strength.

I'm told its comparable to Xanax, but I can't validate that, since I don't do prescription meds except for actual illness.

I do know it helps take the edge off my everyday stresses and anxieties without making me stupid, of course its no cure, but it helps.

I meditate. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but I know of nothing as cheap with as much efficacy.

Hypnosis is good. Have a look for some relaxation/anxiety hypnosis audio on the internet, or you could learn self hypnosis.

Exercise can be distracting for the mind, and helps relax the body.

Chamomile is a good one. I could recommend some wild herbs you might have growing around if you're interested. Got to be careful with identifying things like that though.

Chanting. I found a CD on Amazon from the Kwam Um School (Korean) and it really changed my life.

I love cats, and listening to a cat purring CD is the most relaxing thing to me. Or holding my cat. So I guess animals are my suggestion.

I wish I knew, nothing seems to help. Maybe music.

I feel this should depend well upon what one is anxious about.

Yea it depends what the anxiety is about and/or what kind of anxiety.

Sometimes I hate the word because it's broader than everyday kind of words...

I have a lot of different anxieties and for some it helps to try to think other thoughts to make a pattern of it... for some stuff I totally rely on Xanax...

Walking.
Avoiding situations that will cause them.

But sometimes I am forced in a situation I cannot leave and there is nothing I can do about it unless I have my way and then I am calm.

How did that make you feel when you began taking it?

Only take it as needed, but at the beginning it made me sort of secretly aggressive... if that makes sense anyhow... But after a while it did only what it was supposed to do, calm me down.

I hope I receive a prescription in the next month. I would like to know what that feels like...being calm, not secretly aggressive.

Asperger Syndrome and Anxiety (book) < link

from introduction:
"For people with Asperger's, anxiety is often symptomatic of and aggravated by the neurological difference."

Chapters:
1. how anxiety works and ways to control it
2. asperger syndrome and anxiety
3. cognitive behavioral therapy
4. mindfulness
5. anxiety and relationships
6. anxiety and employment
7. selecting a psychotherapist
8. meltdowns
9. anxiety and shame
10. anxiety and health
11. anxiety and spirituality

----

from personal experience, the only things that help me are music, animals, and drinking. :?
and strict regulation of time spent with anyone else, which is impossible if one wants to stay employed.
