I was having a strange feeling since yesterday - sort of like anxiety building. Lots of stressors right now. I took my son to soccer practice (he has HFA) and he was stressing out even though it is a team for kids with autism and then I started getting one of these visual migraines I've had before. I had to rush home before it started effecting too much of my vision. On the one hand at least I remained calm and didn't freak out but now I am feeling like maybe I should call the doctor for some anxiety medication. I think the stress was the trigger and the soccer practice just set it off. It stayed mostly in the aura mode but I did get a headache and nauseas so I think this one progressed to a migraine which I've been treated for before with Fiorinal(sp?) but those medications just make me feel so dopey.

I just don't like taking medication. It would be nice sometimes to just let myself relax and take the medication but my thinking prevents that. My husband and I argue about it - he wants me to take something so I can't really discuss it with him because he will just get mad. I don't know if anyone else here feels like that sometimes and has had any success overcoming that type of thinking. I've used Xanax before at a very low dose but it's been a while.

I was once offered anxiety medications but those are addictive so I declined. The doctor did not even tell me and I brought it up. Then they said they were. HAA.. Drug dealers! j/k

How I fixed my anxiety personly was drinking no caffien. Sometimes corrections in the diet can help with such things.

I don't like medications much myself, either. My mother, who is a severe diabetic, is currently in a clinic after leg surgery. She had a minor stroke years ago, and it has affected her personality somewhat. She is a bit more nervous now, and the doctor prescribed Zoloft. Honestly, I don't see much difference if she's on it or off it.

If you are thinking of some sort of medication, then maybe you should talk that over with your doctor. Medications may differ for a variety of reasons from individual to individual.

I was on Zoloft before - made me very agitated. So, I am not a fan of any medications either and would want something on an "as needed" basis not drugs like Zoloft that you take regardless of how you feel and stay in your system for days.

I've been prescribed several different meds and all were addictive (along with the SSRI's they just don't advertise that). It seems the more you DON'T want the medication the more the doctors WANT to prescribe (lol). I usually make accomodations to deal with the stress but they don't seem to be working.

I have never had an interest in pharmaceuticology, never will. Though I appreciate how it is medications do help people and the research that goes into them.

Want to settle down for sleeping before bed, here is my tonic.. Human grade catnip and chamomile tea.

I don't recommend anti-anxiety medications unless the anxiety interfers with your life to the extent that you have difficulty functioning. I was to the point of not being able to function and I asked for medication to help me. I take Xanax 3 times daily for anxiety and feel 100% better. I'm better able to enjoy my family, my job, my life. Not to say it's right or good for everyone.
