I don't mean when you were a little child, I mean as a teenager or adult. When I was about 14 or 15, I sat in a restaurant with my mum and there was 2 toddlers sitting on the table near us, and they were screaming and shouting so loudly that I couldn't eat my meal properly. The ugly racket of them was putting me off. And I uncontrollably started swearing and muttering loud enough for other people near our table to hear, and my mum said they were looking at me. I didn't notice, but when we left the restaurant my mum was very embarrassed, and told me I was drawing attention to myself.

Another example is when I was 19 I was walking along with my mum and her sister, and I was in one of those irritable moods. We were arguing about something, but I can't quite remember what (my irritable moods do breed arguments). And they said something what causes me to have meltdowns (can't remember what it was), and I knew I couldn't shout and yell, so instead I ran and kicked a nearby tree and then stamped my foot. There were a few people about, and of course, they looked. I bet I looked like a right spaz.

Has any of you got any rescent stories to tell about when you drawn attention to yourself in the street? I'd like to hear them :D

This is something that shames me, in my teen years I use to swear at family gathering for simple things such as being force to say hello to relatives that I haven't seen in a long time period.

Never.

In fact....I make a concerted effort to be the most anonymous, nondescript person in the world.

I have never understood the appeal of attention or fame for it's own sake. I understand the appeal of the FORTUNE that, often enough, comes with fame. Though said fortune is often wholly undeserved in this ridiculous society in which untalented actors, sociopathic and braindead athletes and total nonentities like Paris Hilton and "Snooki" are among the richest and most famous individuals.

I feel like the right to privacy no longer exists and I think that's largely because it's not a prevailing societal value anymore.

We live in what is probably the most Narcisstic time in history. Everyone must be a legend in their own mind and everyone else's.

PunkyKat, since you seem to have such a passion for animals, perhaps you'd like to take a stab at the following question:

Why are American crocodiles less aggressive than Nile and Saltwater crocodiles?

All three species are similar in size....though the Saltwater crocodile probably grows larger than the other two.

I have a few theories about this....but none are very satisfactory.

One might be obvious to anyone who knows about the number of large mammals native to the respective areas these three croc species inhabit. I know this is totally off-topic, but this question has been plaguing me for some time.

I've never heard a herpetologist address this question and I can't find the answer online or anywhere else.

I don't know really. You might want to ask ColdBlooded, she seems more knowledgeable about reptiles than I am. See, her name is even reptile related. My guess is because people harass the crocodiles more than people harass aligators. I could be wrong but when an animal is agressive twoards people I always assume it is in pain or has been abused in the past. I've heard it's becuase of their brain structure and that they don't have the higher thinking parts we do but my bearded dragon probably probably has the same brain structure but is so sweet and friendly and so trusting. Her claw got trimmed too short by accident and even bled, but she didn' even try to beard. I can't say I know for sure why crocodiles are so cranky but I think it has something to do with how people treat them.

i make a fuss about things. like i was at the police station for some hours after a family incident (not involving me), and i was the only person who thought to bring a water bottle. and of course nobody had change for the machine - except enough for one can or bottle of something, and the person chose soda-pop, which would just make everyone more thirsty!

so when i was off talking to someone, my little nephews got thirsty and my husband offered them my water bottle. i was very angry with him and intercepted his offer. i almost cried, like he took something away from me to give to someone else (ok they were helpless children and i was later ashamed, but anyways). i did help them get water from a fountain later.

i embarrassed everyone.

Unfortunately.
I detest when people pay attention to me.

Not recent but last year my husband had to get hair dye so we stopped at Fred Meyers and we were looking in the aisle and we got into an argument. We fought over hair dye and then he told me people were looking at us because my voice was loud. I didn't care because I didn't see it.

In Spokane on our honeymoon, we were eating at the Benny & Joon diner, I was stacking jelly packets like I always do before every meal and my husband asked for my car keys so he can get my Nintendo DS. I gave him the keys and he went out and got it and brought it back in and said people were staring at me and he didn't like it.

I had a meltdown at Walgreens there and a few people were looking at me. I wanted to leave the store and not wait on the pharmist to say if it be safe of me to take medicine to help me sleep since I was already on medication at the time. I decided forget it and I will just deal with not being able to sleep at night and I wanted to get the day going and not waste it. But my husband pushed it because he wanted to stay and ask and didn't want me to not sleep. I hated what I went through there. I didn't really calm down until after we left.

I don't look at other people to see if I am being watched because I don't really care and then need to feel embarrassed.
