I finally remembered why I don't particularly like eye contact.

I think it freaks my brain out because I was at a friends house and I met her aunt and she looked me in the eye and said "how are you" and something went wrong in my brain so I just echoed her which probably sounded stupid but oh well.

Anyone have any similar experiences?

Yes, weird things happen to my brain, too - I will stutter, repeat myself, and I just "shut off" sometimes. Another problem I have is with "how are you"? Double whammy!

It almost physically hurts to make eye contact (except with certain people I'm comfortable around, then it's just awkward and I hate it) and yeah, I mess up words a lot but with eye contact it's like my tongue gets glued to my throat
