I'm at university right now and I have a bit of a bad day. It's only a bit after 8am and since I woke up I've just felt really tired, annoyed, anxious and stressed (which is usual for me but today I feel drained). That means that, among other things, my sensory issues are worse. A guy who sat next to me on the bus kept bumping into me/touching me unintentionally and I honestly felt like turning around and screaming at him to stop.

I don't want anyone to talk to me today but unfortunately I have to interact with people (group project in astronomy for example). Don't want anyone to talk to me, don't want anyone to touch me, don't want anyone to invade my personal space and I'm telling you if I don't get my usual spot at the lecture I'm going to freak out.

I don't want to seem rude on days like these (I have them quite often) so do you have any advice on how to deal with them? What do you usually do? is this something that has to do with ASD?

If I am agitated and finding fault with others, I sometimes make generous excuses for them.

Find a quiet spot and try to calm yourself down, I think that's really all you can do.
If stimming helps, do that. I can relax better when there's no one around to watch me freak out for a little while. Try to distract yourself from the source of your stress, then try and regain your rationality. And once the day is over hide out in your room/indulge your special interest to recalibrate!

I know it's very difficult, I have the same problems. And if you're rude, so what? Everyone has bad days.

On bad days like those, I medicate. Diazepam is my friend.

I would probably e-mail all my teachers that I couldn't attend/follow protocol for that, order out/make my own meals, and have a de-stress day doing activities that wouldn't frustrate me. Breaks are better than utter burnout.

I get this way frequently. I don't medicate, I meditate. Seriously. I find a quiet space and meditate for as little as 5 minutes. If you are not sure how to meditate there are countless online resources. You do not have to be Buddhist to meditate. You also do not have to get in the typical seated position. I have meditated lying down, standing up, in a car, in the shower, etc... There are also very useful meditation tools that come in handy for me. You don't necessarily have to clear your mind and think of "nothing" while you meditate. One of my most useful tools is "deconstructing a rainbow". I focus on a rainbow and separating the colors in my mind while breathing very slowly in through my nose and out through my mouth. There are many other tools and it is actually one of the best things I have ever discovered for my Aspergers. I also enjoy burning incense while I meditate. There are hundreds of scents available. Incense is not only for potheads. Some stink and some are amazing and relaxing to me. Hope this helps some. I have at least one of the days each week if not more.
