I just passed my driving test today, I'm so damn happy it's unreal :D , this was 10th time lucky (3rd test in this particular stint). Just thought I'd let everyone know it's possible even with all the extra difficulties you may face & trust me I have plenty.

In all my past tests I've ended up with very few minors but always failed on some stupid "serious" due to poor judgement, usually as a knock on effect from crashing (in my head) & getting into a sped up mess, I have great observation but when you have to keep your eyes on everything, react to anything that comes up & also take in directions from an examiner it can get pretty overwhelming, especially with a processing speed in the low 80's. My biggest help by far was a Driving Test Practical CD I started using recently, that took me through everything in my own time by just observing someone else driving on lots of little videos. This made every skill & procedure needed so concrete in my mind that I was able to do most things automatically & free the very little space available in my head (RAM) to respond to everything else coming my way.

Oh I did end up taking a tiny bit of my Ritalin (it actually makes driving harder usually - tends to make you focus even more on smaller details to the detriment of overall observation) I wasn't planning to take it this time either. Anyway I ended up getting hit with crippling anxiety just before I caught my train to the city I was taking my test, luckily I had a morsel of it left in my wallet from the last time I took my test which helped quite nicely.

LOL no more pointless info, to the point I PASSED my driving test! so can YOU :D. Back to jumping about, punching the air & sporadic roars of happiness.

Congratulations!

I had many many, many, many lessons over a ten year period and it finally took me five tests before I passed. I almost gave up before the last test because I felt so hopeless and discouraged and I don't think I'd have had the strength to carry on as long as you did. So I really admire your commitment and resolve.

I actually gave up after 7 tests first time around (lol changed my mind though one of them shouldn't count because I never even started it - I forgot part of my license). I'm 4 years on now with a new drive to succeed
