Lamictal For Meltdowns?

Has anyone else been put on Lamictal for meltdowns? I just had the first appointment with my psychiatrist I've had in a long time, because the whole meltdown at work issue made my parents concerned about the meds I was taking. He kept me on the paxil and Ritalin, but also prescribed lamictal, which is a mood stabilizer usually used with bipolar or epilepsy, to help with the meltdowns. Supposedly it isn't supposed to make me gain weight or anything, which is a concern since I have diabetes. Anyway, let me know of your experiences with it.

That's one pill that I wouldn't mind being put on. People my age should not be having meltdowns that end in tears. They don't happen very often, but still. I'd also be causing less grief on WP as well, when I get in a mood.

I take Lamictal with Abilify for anxiety/depression. It hasn't had any side effects but I'm not sure how well it's working. I think what benefit I have had has been from the Abilify.

Hmm.. Does the Abilify have any side effects for you? They might have put me on that if it wasn't for weight gain being a common side effect.

I was put on Lamictal for ten days during a hospitalization last year. It my eyes and made them burn and I couldn't wear my contacts for months afterwards.

I haven't gained any weight. I've been on it for several moths now but I started at a very low dose and gradually increased. (And I like to eat a lot of chocolate and such. )

Abilify destroyed my liver.

Okay, let me just warn you that Lamictal gave me the worst acne I have ever had. I still have scars from it all over my face.

My reaction was rare, but it happened. If you start getting acne or if your acne gets worse on Lamictal, stop taking it immediately! The acne will keep getting worse for a couple of weeks even after you stop!
