Difficulty with Certain School Subjects

Having seen Temple Grandin, I remember there was this one part where her science teacher was telling the other teachers in her high school why she wasn't good at French or Math, because she was a visual thinker and those things were just gibberish to her in the way the were being taught.
I seem to suck at English, Math, and History. Though this is slightly ironic because I am a writer, so English should be no problem, but it is. And I write historical fiction, so the same should have gone for History. Math isn't very understandable either.
It's not the teachers. It's always been this way. I always sucked at always those three subjects, and excelled in science. Even though science was much like history in that is was all just facts, and much like math in that it was all just figuring things out, and english in that is was all just rules.
Facts, rules, and figuring things out. Yet I still sucked at each except science.

Not entirely sure why, but hopefully seeing if any of you could relate I could possibly get down to the bottom of it. I've been curious lately about it.

I sucked at english.

I read the books, was able to answer the questions in class. But when it came to the essays i was stuffed.
I wasn't that good at art either (but then again, who is?)
And i also wasnt good at woodwork

I hated english so I wasn't good at it.

I was good at everything except P.E. Poor reflex, weak muscle tone, poor coordination, hyperflexible joints - do I need to say more? It's always a struggle to pass PE. I actually spent lots of time practicing and training before each test and I still just barely passed.

I did have a bit of trouble when I just started physics, but I eventually caught up and found it fascinating. Oh and I never liked math much, though I did OK up to the second year university math courses and just couldn't go on any more. I had enough after too many integrals and matrices.

I was good at (and enjoyed) reading and spelling... but I did terrible at essays. I could write ok and I think this wasn't an issue. I didn't have a clue what I was writing about (I made up 'facts' just so I was writing something -- I didn't realise this was important but found out it was when I received the results and remarks of the examination.

Bad at English and history also. Good in science. Bad at essays, great in multiple choice. Good in theory, pathetic in labs/practicals/work .
