As more and more of us emerge, I had a thought that we Aspies might be the next wave of improvement in human evolution. I can think of a lot of problems that would just disappear if everyone currently "NT" wasn't governed by their emotions, and if people knew the rules and followed them.

The concept of being "pod people" or having a "hive mind" has been featured in many movies and sci-fi scenarios in a negative way. Personally I don't see so much that's wrong with it, as long as people are not forced into that condition.

Its a possibility since we do specialize in specific obsessions and excel beyond most NTs in those areas we are masters at.As human society becomes more and more hive like we are the like the worker bees so to speak design to do our specific tasks efficiently. We crave order and have a lot of trouble adapting to chaos for the most part in a hive community everything must be in order and organized effectively.

If the world was full of aspies there'd be no wars because we're not warlike and, for the most part, don't decide by emotion. We're too logical to get into a fracas over some minor slight. It's just not gonna happen.

Ahahaha! I didn't know if anyone would know the reference. It may date me but I've only seen the first series, back in 1980.

This is what makes me doubt I am aspie although I have other symptoms of it. I am a very emotional person and use both logic and emotion when making a decision. I do like a sense of sameness in some ways but feel that applying too many rules stifles individuality and freedom of thought. Too much order is suffocating and takes away from the fun of spontaneity in life.

It is not good for self expression or evolution as evolution needs variation even within a species.

Following rules without thought or question and merely accepting them is not always a good thing...not all rules are as right as they might seem to be and just going along with them is not always wise. Not only that but it can halt progress as everyone gets so stuck on the rules that no change ever occurs. Sometimes change is needed in order for the human race to progress. In fact, if no change every occurred, evolution would come to a grinding halt.

Not to mention being confined by rules is very NT...they live their life boxed in by social rules and no one dares to step outside of them for fear of ridicule...

It seems that everyone everywhere wants to live only by some set of rules that they think should be applied to everyone else!

I'll see your Gundam and raise you a Ghost in the Shell.

"It's simple: Overspecialize, and you breed in weakness. It's slow death." Major Motoko Kusanagi. A world of aspies would not work unless someone were carefully assigning every individual into a specific place for service, and I'm not willing to give up my freedom for comfort.

Not this again.

No, we're not the next step. Evolution doesn't have steps. Diversity--not superiority--makes a species strong.

While the diversity represented by autism does make the human race stronger just like any other form of diversity does--including other disabilities--we are not the "next step" in evolution. There is no next step.

Biology. Go learn it.

My head hurts trying to think of some rational way to respond to this.

Pointless thread is pointless.
