Is it hard for you to concentrate? Harder than for non-autistic people?

I can concentrate on interesting things, but otherwise it's difficult, almost painful to maintain concentration. It's a major reason for both poor academic performance and why a lot of house chores don't get done.

But, I've also got an ADHD diagnosis. ADHD medication helps amazingly though.

My concentration abilities kind of suck...but there are other factors than autism in my case. I used to be able to concentrate more easily though I've always gotten distracted by noise and movement going on around me.

Ditto that.

I have amazing concentration with my special interest but not with anything else. I get distracted really easily.

If I'm not interested then I find it very difficult to concentrate. If it's to do with my special interests I can concentrate extremely well.

You could've said ''harder than for NTs'', because there are other conditions besides Autism that can affect the person from concentrating, like ADHD, ADD, Down's Syndrome, even learning difficulties. But never mind that, we're not going to argue about that all day, just thought I'd point it out, since you're probably just generalizing, not justifying.

I know I'm no good with concentrating. I can concentrate on films, although I've got to be in a comfortable position to watch a film, it's also better if I'm on my own in my bed watching a film, and also it depends on what mood I'm in too.
I cannot concentrate on reading books, it's taken me 6 months to read a very small book, and I read a bit of it almost every day. I just can't concentrate, and I find I'm reading the same sentence over and over until I take it in.
Also I feel like I walk around with my eyes closed, like I'm not paying attention to anything around me. Like if I walk into a clothes shop, I tend to miss everything, and walk back out again, where as other people can spot things much quicker than me. Also I'm no good at shopping because even if I look in shop windows I don't take in what displays they have in the windows, and I don't take notice of offers and bargains in shops, et cetera.

I don't seem to take heed in anything.
