I'm talking about places like these. I am new (as you can tell by my obviously low post count) and I want to say something to you guys but I don't know where to start. I don't wanna just jump in and start talking about personal things. This is the internet you know! Kinda scary... 8O I guess I just like the interaction of forums when I post something and people reply to me.

YoungAtHeart, welcome to WP. Might I advise posting on an interest? The video game or TV sub-forums are ideal for that.

Welcome, no rush, unless your problem is urgent.
As above, there are many, many threads here to get involved in, you can start with these first and find your way around.
As long as you do not reveal personal information and contact details, then you are anonymous.
There are some strong opinions here, don't let that put you off, there's also a lot of useful information. You can always use the search function to find topics similar to yours that have already been discussed.

Hey Neilson, It's not that I have a particular problem and I know that it's not wise to post personal info but I guess I just feel nervous about revealing something about myself that is here for the whole internet to see. Like something that may sound embarrassing (I have quirks, although I was tempted to bring them up because I wonder how many Aspies have the same quirks as me)

And thank you for welcoming me.

Hello, I'm new to this game of internet forums, I felt like sharing the basics.
The members here come from many different backgrounds, I would be very surprised if there was not someone you can identify with. You would have to be very twisted or disruptive to cause a problem. As long as you don't, for example, torture kittens for fun you will be fine to share.
The Members Discussion and Adult Autism boards have privacy from the net, where as all other threads are searchable. If it is sexual matters then Adult Issues is the best place, obviously. It's only words on a screen anyway.

Lots of people share personal issues, and after all, you can use a screen name which you make up, and nobody would know your real name, if you want. I use my real first name, but there's no rule one way or the other. One of the important things about this forum, is that we can read and share personal issues and learn from each other how we might deal with things. But don't share anything you're not comfortable with sharing, until and unless you're OK with it.

You may be surprised as to how many people will post extremely personal information that is similar to your personal experiences, especially since most of us have aspergers on here.

P.S. Nobody on here may ever meet you in real life so don't be shy and post anything you want as long as you follow WP's rule or else you may get banned. Oh, I almost forgot to welcome you. Welcome to WP!

The answer is in the question. :)

Take things at the pace you are comfortable with.

There have been times I have shared a lot more than I normally would, because it might help someone else avoiding a problem or pitfall. But that's completely my own choice and I have told myself I can handle the (if any) consequences.

Take things at the pace you are comfortable with; doesn't matter what others are doing. Nothing wrong with taking your time, dipping a toe in the water rather than jumping in at once.

And hi. :)
