I have a bounced walk and I want to change it. Does anyone have advice for how to get rid of doing it that way so it is normal or close to it?

I have a bouncy walk too. The only way I've found to not walk bouncily is to walk very very very slowly, like tiptoeing.

I really hate when people point out that I have a bouncy walk because I don't know how the way I walk is mechanically different from the way they walk.

I have this problem with standing up straight. I don't know when I'm doing it right or not. The only solution I've found is to elist NT assistance along with a big mirror.

Stand in front of a big mirror with an NT friend who can help you out. You'll need someone who understands that it's tough for you to do it and who can explain the differences in movement so you notice them. Take turns walking past the mirror and watch how your bodies move differently. Mimic as much as possible your NT friend. It will feel odd at first, because you're not used to it. Have them correct any other mistakes you still haven't caught on your own and practice as long as you can with them watching and correcting you, and while watching yourself in the mirror. Memorize how this feels and do your best to mimic it all the time. Always be thinking about how you're walking, at least at first, even if this means you have to be less social for a day or two. It's the only way you'll make the change sink in. After a couple of days it should start to feel more normal, and before long you will do it without thinking.

It's a tough thing to correct, but it absolutely can be done. Good luck!

Also, as a simple, general rule that you can use to make some small changes, if not complete correction, even without someone helping you: walk in front of a mirror and try to keep your head at the same level while you walk. Normally people's heads do go up and down a bit while they walk, but it should be a very small amount, hardly noticeable. Figure out a way to walk without moving your head up and down, and that will make it look more normal, even if not completely so. At least it will get rid of the bounciness.

I too have been told I have an odd or bouncy walk at various times in the past.

I don't care; it gets me from A to B.

I have a bounce in my step but I think thats more down to the fact that I'm hyper as hell most of the time.

Bouncy gait can be caused by toe-walking. Put your heels down first instead of your toes when you step and it will correct it.
