I am always thinking about my work, about the holy trinity, about the coming israel x iran war, about heisenberg's uncertainty principle r anything else.
So i think that's the reason of my insomnia.

I just like thinking and researching with the moon's gravitational influence over my head.

I'm always thinking too. That and I just don't feel tired before 1 or 2 am.

brain buzz. The thoughts never stop. Good things or worrisome things. Always buzzing. I have trouble falling asleep because of it. Once I fall asleep though I usually sleep through the night.

What you guys are saying, and what I’ve experienced as well, seems fairly consistent with this:

Too much thinking equals a warmer brain, I suppose.

Dangit. I knew I shouldn't have overclocked my brain without upgrading to liquid cooling. I guess my stock heat sink isn't good enough. Maybe if I could add a bit more voltage to the cooling fan, that might help a bit.

I normally have a LOT of insomnia if I'm not busy throughout the day.

During the holidays, I don't have as much to do and I enter Insomnia mode, where I stay awake until around 4 or 5 AM, and then wake up late, ie becoming a "Night-Owl".

I also have insomnia before exams, which is actually un-ideal given that you need to have enough sleep before taking tests.

My compensation mechanism is to keep myself busy throughout the day and to go for a walk, so hopefully I'll be both mentally and physically exhausted by 1 AM.

I sometimes use Phenergan (promethazine) and Restavit (doxylamine succinate) to make me drowzy if my insomnia during holidays gets really bad, and I needed to get to a certain place in the morning.

Of course ASD individuals face more stress when working in a standard NT work environment, so they can get tired easily, I'd imagine that insomnia issues would decrease then, but at the expense of happiness.

Very much this, my brain just doesn't start turning off until around 1:00-1:30 am... 2:00 am is what I consider my bedtime. I am not even sure if I really if I consider it insomnia anymore, its just my sleep schedule. It just isn't 'late' until 3:00 am. I am usually up by 8:00 or 9:00 am.

takes me along time to get to sleep. It's partly because I have to get into a position so that my blankets do not rub against me uncomfortably. Another reason is that I just cannot stop thinking about things. Even as I am drifting to sleep I am still obsessing over something.

I have the same problem. During the day, my mind is mostly blank, but as soon as I lie down to sleep, the thoughts come flooding in. I've found that using white noise generators helps to drown the thoughts out of my head and let me sleep. I use 'Sleepmaker: Storm' on my iPhone. The sound of rain is quite calming.

My method is to sleep with my head under the blankets. Haven't suffocated yet.
When I'm stressed I can't sleep no matter what.

I heard that sometimes taking Ritalin can help you sleep. It has worked once or twice but last time I didn't fall asleep until 5am.

I find the less sleep I get the worst my ADHD symptoms are, but at least I get up early in the morning.

Taking Ritalin to help you sleep would only work in individuals with ADHD. I've read of some anecdotal cases of adults realizing that they have undiagnosed ADHD because they were self medicating with Methamphetamine to calm themselves down and improve focus. In people that don't have ADHD, it makes them even more awake and exacerbates the insomnia.

Actually now that I think about it, I can only fall asleep (in normal sleep circumstances) if I lie on my back. If I lie on my side, I won't be able to fall asleep no matter how long I rest for, unless I'm super sleep deprived.

The only thing that really gives me insomnia is a noisy lightbulb. or being horny, :pig:

Do something to clear your mind and get your thoughts out for a good few hours every evening. I recommend a 4hr walk in secluded nature or a creative hobby like piano. Creative hobbies seem to clear most of my thoughts whilst walking lets me zone out into them and get them out of the way. It's terrible being around people all day being drained by them only to be too stressed to sleep at night. I found that my mind can become a source of intense anxious restlessness which causes inner conflict and a feeling of discomfort in my own skin but I've learnt to give it what it wants to avoid this. I'm also naturally a night time person since people are around mostly in the day so it is harder to have a normal routine but possible with enough alone time.

I get tired all the time, and I sleep well. Sometimes I go through phases of finding it hard getting to sleep, but that can depend on what food I've had in the day. I drink a lot of milk, which can be good at relaxing your mind, in a healthy way (alcohol is not the answer).

I wonder if this is simply because night time is more likely to be quiet uninterrupted time and this is a state of being people with AS value?

For example you could get in some shopping at a 24 hour place after midnight with far less people, hassle, noise, and traffic. Or even just at home you could do more with less interruptions from family at night.
