Title says it all.

My mum said today when she saw my second cousin (my cousin's son) she said she thinks he may be on the Autistic spectrum, and I have actually always thought that he may be as well. He is 5 years old.

There are clues such as he seemed to be stimming, like, as in, he was jumping about and spinning around when I saw him yesterday, over and over again, he is really obsessive over one thing at a time, barely speaks and is struggling with learning in school. You might not think he has it at all, but you'd have to see him to get more of a picture. Who knows, I could be completely wrong and this is just a phase of his. :?

Anyways, none of this is our responsibility but me and my mum have both suspected there is something...

That's funny, because I have suspected that my first cousin might be on the spectrum as well when he visited our family recently.

It was my first time seeing him in about 14 months, and I had went through my ordeal of finding about my apparent lifelong ASD from the last time we met. I notice my cousin doing similar things that I did, or symptoms of the spectrum. Such as having conversations by himself (I was thinking nothing of it before since he was an only child for 11 years), attachment to inanimate objects (he was spinning around with the yardstick that I usually 'fiddled' around with), and his intense obsessions (first Sonic the Hedgehog, which was for a few years, and now its Anime with Naruto/Dragon Ball/etc), and well, and possibly his eye contact ( I can't really tell b/c of my issues with it). He absolutely loves to play video games, as he plays them practically when he awakes to when he sleeps. And they usually are what he's obsessed. Me and him have a unique connection, too. :D

I was under the impression that AS symptoms doesn't show until they are around 5 or 6. I had speech delays as well, but an earlier age. And my disorder was closer related to Autism than AS (PDD-NOS), but I have more AS symptoms now. I'm not sure what to say, other than does he receive any IEPs in school as now?
