Best list making software!

I love organizing info and ideas into lists. Seems like this is something Aspies like to do. I was wondering how you do it?

Initially I used small writing pads (maybe 4"x3") and wrote in tiny letters. Later I moved to larger (a4) size writing pads but eventually shifted over to digital.

Nowadays I e-mail my thoughts/ideas to myself in a gmail account. I have a couple of 100+ message long threads but I have a few concerns now about this method a) the thread can take a long time to load, b) hacking, c) losing my e-mails due to a system problem at gmail (recently reported in the news), d) difficult to find a previous e-mails, e) difficult to tag e-mails with common themes. f) difficult to expand upon previous thoughts/ideas.

So I have been considering alternatives. One possibility I was going to try tonight was to use MS Access to create a database that can be stored on dropbox so is accessible everywhere. I can then use different fields/tables to organize every thought and idea etc. into categories that can be easily searched for.

How do you do it? Is there any good software out there for this kind of thing?

Have you ever used Access before? It's not that easy to just jump into it without any training. Especially to do what you want to do with it.

My advice is to just keep doing it the way you've been doing it, and when you want to find something you've written before, use the search function. It's a hell of a lot easier than setting up a database.

Use the gmail tags too, they're fantasitic, because you can assign any number of tags to any single email so they can exist in multiple categories, yet it's the same document. Makes finding stuff really easy.

I don't even use the tags though. Search works perfectly for me.
