I find my thinking and emotions are always black and white.

I'm either interested in a subject so much that it occupies my mind 100% of the time, or I'm inactive regarding it. There's no moderation or balance, it's either all out obsessiveness or apathy.

I either have awesome self-esteem or feel completely worthless, depressed, and suicidal.

I either exercise obsessively and study a huge range of dietary/exercise supplements, or I neglect exercise completely.

People I know are either my 'friends' or I block them out and delete them from facebook if I feel they have offended me. My NT gf feels embarrassed when I delete mutual 'friends' but I just reply they aren't my friends so why should I keep them on my friend list. She says I have no tact, whatever that is (a fancy word for dishonesty I think).

And on and on.

At times I feel AS is like a magnifying glass that focuses the suns rays (or thought/activity) onto a single spot until it burns intensely. I see that as a potentially good thing so long as the energy is being directed in useful directions, though I often struggle with this.

Anyone relate to this?

Absolutely. 100%. :D

Yes. One on hand it destroys my life cause when something I've put all my heart into doesn't work out I want to kill myself.

On the other hand I would not have it any other way because when things go well, it is the most amazing magical experience on earth.

And my inability to compromise leads me to have not given up on what most people think of as a delusional dream, even though it's actually not delusional at all for any logical reason, it's what I love to do and IT'S GONNA HAPPEN BY GOD! :)

I do not seem to suffer from black in white thinking, instead sometimes I am not even sure what I actually think....and that gets confusing.

Umm...yeah, I'm like that to some degree. I don't seem to have a wide range of emotions like most people. If something's bothering me, I find it hard to get on with it and stay positive. Instead, it will get me down, even if it's a relatively small thing. Most people tend to be able to at least fake feeling good, even if a lot of things are going on in their life. I tend to either feel great or terrible...there aren't many in-between states.

But in other areas, I'm not a black and white thinker. In fact, I often get annoyed by people who believe that everything has be either this or that, with no shades of grey.

Yeah, I'm exactly like that. My mum summed it up perfectly for me once, "It's either feast or famine with you" :) This goes for every area of my life, it's kinda destructive sometimes, I have to keep track of things that I do, keep good habbits up bad ones away.

It's bad for friendships and my decisions are made by what is the best logical decision not emotion.
