I was wondering if anyone has tried taking oxytocin as a nasal spray or a pill. See I went to this naturalpathic doctor who happen to have this autism specialist in the office this week. So I saw the guy, and he thought of giving me low doses of oxytocin pills. Ive read about this previously so it sounded very interesting. Has anyone ever tried this. Tho its not approved by the FDA.

Sorry i wanted to post a link of the article but i cant copy paste on this computer so I'll post it later.

Yeah I'll make sure I'll do my research before putting any hormones in my body. I was highly curious. But Im still skeptical cause the studies have been done on children but not adults. I dont know what kinda effect it has on adults and this stuff sounds costly.

I think we could benefit (benefit I mean act "more normal") from more hate too.
Instead of being on average more open minded liberal tolerant libertarians we should be more pig-headed "insert political-racist ideology in here"ists. We should be involved in more fights to be up there with the average. :)

Seriously in many families the man is a bit of a monster and the woman makes excuses for him because "he's always nice to me". Maybe it's just that oxytocin.

Fascinating.

Quote:
Oxytocin does make you feel more protective and altruistic towards kin and kind: friends, relatives, the so-called “in group” we all develop over time. But De Drew et al have now shown that it also increases your hostility towards to outgroups: the guys from the other tribe or the other school, at least when you’re worried about the security of your own group.

It makes one more Cancerian

That's actually an interesting point. I probably under respond to threats.

I'm not sure I want to be quite as crabby as everyone else though.

One of my recurrent interests is the biochemistry of meditation. Meditation may stimulate increased production of the hormone.

Yeah, I had read about that before. I think it's a small price to pay. It's a well-known fact that we are meant to live in small groups instead of huge societies. As surprising as it may be (sarcasm), we are not bees/ants/termites.
