Why do we rock? I was just thinking about it tonight and I didnt think that I rocked that much but thinking about it, I do. I rock when Im in bed, in the shower, when Im alone and some times when Im on the phone. But why??? :?:

I never knew why, but I do it too, just very subtly. I like to swing mostly. I can do that for hours.

I find myself swaying sometimes..and also bouncing my knee up and down like it's on crack. Or moving my foot back and forth.

Rocking, wrapping up and blankets, and deep touch, all trigger similar feelings of feeling protected to me.

it's soothing. i rock sideways but not all the time.

Because we have difficulties processing everything around us. The information overload/overstimulation causes problems so we engage in a cyclical/repetitive motion which is predictable and easy to process -- that's why it's soothing.
