Do you cringe when you hear people something inappropriate?

I have been known to say some pretty inconsiderate things in my time, but never once have I ever done it intentionally, and it has never been meant to crush someone and destroy their confidence and just this weekend I was sitting in a pub when someone said to their daughter "salad tonight for tea fatty"

Now, this 8 year old girl certainly is not fat, she is slim and does kick-boxing...

I can see it now, and people wonder why young girls these days develop anorexia.

Now, I do not know in the context it was said, or their home-life but have you ever overheard something that not even you would say?

Most of the things I hear people say, I wouldn't say myself. I generally don't say much unless it is important, and I also can't remember a time where I have been rude outside of an argument (on purpose). If it was me making the error in that situation, I probably would have said something like
"Well I know you said you thought you were fat. And if you are worried that you are fat, maybe you should choose something to eat like a salad or a soup"
But I wouldn't say that unless the person had vocalized that perhaps they were going to make a high-fat meal choice.
I generally don't care about or notice choices that others make, unless they impact me personally.
