Not to diss any NT's but it's a fact that a lot of the wars, fighting, politics and poverty, are largely a result of politically and religiously charged issues.

How would it be if huge leaders like Bin Laden, Stalin, Hitler, etc... all were aspies? (Not changing the proportions of NT's to Aspies - NT's would still dominate as a majority) Just people in positions of power having Asperger's

Not such a bad idea the way I see it :D

Speaking from experience, I don't think we would want any sTd considering we can't handle conflicts very well.

Yes except that every time the leader got up to do a speech, the whole country would have to hear all about his/her special interest :)

The desire for power is not compatible with the austere rationality of an autistic mind.

Ditto, in my case that is certainly true.

Sounds way too much like, "if women ran the world everything would be better." I call BS. Not having the chance to screw the world up is not the same as knowing that you wouldn't.

I've seen at least one autistic who ended up in a position of power, and f***ed up with it. He didn't end up in that position out of a desire for power, but rather has a desire to keep his cozy little clique of friends cozy (all consequences to people's other friendships be damned), and by mixing personal and official aspects of the organization he was running (just the way that NT's do, where the only real way to "get in" is to be "in" with the right people).

I don't think that person meant for it to be that way; I think the situation sort of snuck up on him. (However, I am also 100% sure that he still doesn't give a sh*t about any of the harm that he caused.)

As someone who isn't me put it: "power doesn't feel like power when you have it -- it feels perfectly normal, like nothing at all." That's part of what makes it hard not to screw up with power -- you imagine that having it will feel a certain way, and that that feeling will be what reminds you to be careful. But you never get that feeling, so that doesn't work.

I guess I would just like it if they had some of the traits of aspies like morals, fairness and equality. I realize now that our minds are not capable in the same way as them to rule a country, but certain aspie traits would have made them better leaders

Not sure why so many people are convinced that morals, fairness and equality are "aspie traits". Seems kind of ridiculous to me. I have witnessed aspies expressing racist, sexist and homophobic views. Hasn't anyone else?

Yes, and aspies are usually terrible at communication, which for politics is essential.

The country with the aspie leader and the supposed aspie 'moral compass', would be invaded by the bad ass NT country. In old days anyways

An aspie leader would need an aspie population, and since our genes only express at a small proportion of the general population, this is unlikely to happen

We are not gods gift to ethics and morality.... or are we???

The many you find on this site, shy away from conflict and the real world, and would struggle to find expression

down at the watering hole with all the other animals

I knew an aspie in power who 90 percent of the time had excellent morals...however they ran him out of town by extortion because he would not play by their crooked rules. They turned him against the public by saying he was distant and aloof to their needs and thought he was too good for them. However, he really cared. It did not go well.

I think the definition of "morals" needs to be clarified.

I agree that aspies are better than NTs at sticking to our personal principles - and not caving in to pressures to compromise them - because of our ability to be detached. This is the "positive" side of our "independence" from society.

However, it doesn't mean that our principles themselves are morally perfect. An aspie can still hold bigoted views, e.g. about race, gender, etc.

To answer your question, you are right fairness and equality and morals are NOT uniquely aspie traits. But there are usually enhanced by it. And to answer your 2nd point, no I personally haven't witnessed aspies expressing anything racist, sexist or homophobic myself, although I understand that that doesn't mean that some of them haven't.

I have however witnessed an aspie, who was a very nice and moral person start to lie about himself and make bad decisions as a sheer and desperate attempt to fit in and make friends with NT's. I wonder if aspies who are racist/sexist are like that or act like that from external influences (namely NT)

Well put. I never claimed that we are morally perfect, and yes I'm sure there are racist/sexist aspies (although I have never met one), but sticking to our principles and our ideals instead of the "herd mentality" I feel is a strong Aspie trait

And that is our undoing, as far as running the show is concerned, because there is strength in numbers

and their numbers is their strength

Once the world turns
And aspie herds start to roam
Magic mushrooms will fruit
Around our poop

Which, in this case, is usually going to be about conquering the world.
