So, same question but regarding QR codes. They're currently a bit of an obsession for me. I'm sure they're handwritable... But can anyone here read them?

It is possible for people to actually read these by matching up each block and decoding their meaning via their position in the scheme. It does seem quite possible, but I fail to understand why people would even want to do so except to figure out why it works. It would definitely take a long time to do so. There is plenty for free, open source software that will read or print these codes.

Zbar is one open source program that can read QR-codes as well as many others.
Zint is a program that will save data as a bar-code via a .png file.

You can read more about how QR codes work by visiting here (Wikipedia).
