The other day I met a Chinese girl and all her friends were like shes called takeaway we all have nicknames she's called takeaway, And I was like "yeah but whats your real name" and she said "takeaway" and I was like "whoa.. That's an unusual name..."
and Then my friend explained that I have aspergers and don't get things like that.
and I was at a party and dress up nice and this guy whistled and said "Whos that!
(apparently It meant He was saying I was sexy I still don't get how" then I was like "you know who I am! I'm Naomi we have met like three or four times!" then his friend explained to me what he meant and I still didn't get it and was like, uhh.. am I really unmemorable or something, then I finally got he was kidding.
anyway. I fail at this stuff

The other day my mum told me her chief had told her to watch his chair while he was away on a business trip. I actually thought it meant she had to watch his chair in case someone stole it or something :/

Today someone at work was talking about a bad website on one of our sub-domains, and they said "The articles on there had such confusing information, they weren't even in English." I was really surprised that we had random pages in other languages (as much as I think we should for accessibility for everyone!) given that everything I've seen on any of our sites are in English, only to find out that she meant that it was just... badly worded stuff, not literally in a different language than English.

That is quite a confusing way to word something.

I probably would have done the same thing. I remember asking a girl when I was eight what her name was and she kept saying "why?" and then after asking her that about five times, I figured out her name was Why. So for a while I thought her name was Why and I would call her that until I heard someone say her real name. Back then saying "why?" when people ask you questions seemed like a fad in my school because kids did that all the time. Then my brothers did it too for a bit so it must have been a fad going around in kids.

But I think this was more due to ignorance because I was new to my school then and I had just came from the special ed classroom I was in full time at my other school so I missed out on a lot in normal kids. I don't know if I still would have taken the girl literal if I had been going to that school for two years than being in special ed full time. I didn't even know what April Fools was either until that day came in 1994 and I didn't understand it was only that one day once a year you do "April Fools" because I never heard it before. But I figured out eventually "why?" was something you said to questions and they aren't actually asking you why you are asking. Then when I heard the girl's real name, i didn't get all confused thinking "I thought her name was Why?" Maybe I did think that at first but then I figured it out when I kept seeing the fad go on but it took me months to figure out her name was not Why. PS that was the same girl who got mad at me when I took her literal in 6th grade over her compliment and she said "Geez Beth I was being sarcastic."

I can relate to this.

Once I was greeted by someone who I don't know, he said "how's tricks?" I immediately thought of magic (I have an interest in this) I was confused and I said something along the lines of er, what do you mean?

Apparently it's another way of asking how's things...

I hate when people make up stories and it's hard to decipher if they're true or not, especially when I'm not good friends with them.

In 7th grade, a boy that had black hair and eyes told me he was part Asian. I believed him, and then he still remembers to this day that I fell for it. How am I suppose to know?

Last night over dinner my GF was talking about some purse that has changable "shells". So I asked her if it was like a clam shell or what. It turned out that "shell" meant the outer part could be replaced on the original purse compartment, and that it the "shells" are in the physical likeness of sea-life, but just different styles of fabrics and fake leather and stuff. We had a good laugh. That kind of thing happens all the time.

yeah i do take things too literally at times. like me and my comrade were talking once and shes like " i think owls are taking over the world" and my first reaction is " thats a little paranoid..."
used to be worse in highschool. my teachers would sometimes spot me reading under the desk during class and say "when you're ready" or "finish up now" and i would finish up and stop reading when i was ready. i embarrass me but i can laugh about ti now. it helps that i only realised i was doing it recently.
