So I'm at an evaluation today that was set up by the state for disability benefits. The psychologist asks me questions for 15 minute in which time I've told her I have a problem with noise and distraction. Meanwhile she has music playing, a quartz clock ticking on the desk, desk lamp shining in my face, her cell phone is on a wooden desk vibrating, there's a kid right outside the door yelling and running up and down the hallway, and her stomach is making noises because shes hungry. Then she proceeds with an IQ test while all this crap is going on. I had to tell her to turn off the music and her phone. Nothing I could do about the kid other that to stop in the middle of the test and go outside. Gotta love the state paid psychologists.

A lot of the private psychs round here are setup in old houses. Last year I had to sit some evaluation tests at one of them. They sat me in an unused room opposite one of the client rooms. Half-way through the tests I could hear a female client crying and was talking about a car accident she witnessed where a child had died. It was impossible to not overhear it no matter how I tried. I felt like jumping through the window.

Then when I sat an IQ test a few months ago it was also in a house. Every few minutes women would walk down the wooden floor hallway with their high heals clip clopping. These "professionals" really should be more professional about client privacy and creating a less distracting environment. I mean, I'm sure a bit of carpet wouldn't blow their budget out too much.
