"At least six million American children have difficulties that are diagnosed as serious mental disorders, according to government surveys. In Pam Belluck’s recent article about children and families coping with mental illness, she writes, “the families of such children are left on their own to sort through a cacophony of conflicting advice. The illness, and sometimes the treatment, can strain marriages, jobs, finances.”

Very interesting and good article on the New York Times. Also the follow up discussion and posts are very good. I recommend it heartily. | Oct 22, comments and link to original article in NYT Oct 25. I am unable to make a link.

I saw this too, I wondered if the girl they featured was autistic. I believe they mentioned every disorder except AS or HFA in that article...

Yes the author talks of Tourette syndrome, but points very well to the plight of the mentally disabled in schools.
