Quote:
WrongPlanet.net, an international website for people with various levels of autism has grown to over 7000 members in two years, according to Alex Plank, the web site’s cofounder. “On average, we get 20 new members a day. I think its because we provide such an unusual environment with forums where people on the autism spectrum and parents of people on the spectrum can share experiences and frustrations they would otherwise keep to themselves, articles by experts addressing the entire autistic spectrum, and a chat room where isolated people can talk to each other.”

“We have a worldwide membership,” Plank continues. “I don’t know what it is, but people who would otherwise be afraid to talk in person don’t have that many problems communicating online. It’s great to watch. A couple of people who met on our site actually wound up getting married! It took us nearly 2 years to get to this point, but now we just seem to keep growing at an ever faster rate. Anyone can log on!” Plank adds, “we don’t charge, and you don’t have to tell us a thing about yourself if you don’t want to!”

Plank, who has been interviewed about the site by “Good Morning America,” “Geraldo at Large,” and the Washington Post is an articulate young Internet enthusiast, who has Asperger’s Syndrome himself. He has a funny, breezy interview style and a good perspective on autistic people. To book an interview, call Alex Plank at (213) 325-2152.

I reckon the title of the article should be 'Number of people found to have Austism grows, according to fast-growing popular website for those people'

Aah, I love Wrong Planet! I come here nearly everyday and just postpostpost! I never get bored of it, and it's nice to talk and let your feelings out, which is the best part of it all. I look forward to when the website will get cool new features such as Username Titles in Picture Format (not to be confused with an Avatar) and a feature to show who's on the spectrum and who's not for users with a certain amount of posts (750, maybe?). Cool little things like that can make this site have a bit more shine (but don't go overboard!).

But yeah, I love WP (partly because it's how me and Starbuline met), and I'll only stop coming here if I lose my internet connection or am on holiday or something like that! Thank You and goodnight! (well, good afternoon, it's 11:30 over here)

For WP to have 7000 members is great but it is a misrepresentation of the actual amount of members who are still active here. Some members have left, some no longer post, some just lurk, some have even sadly passed away.
Perhaps this could be counted in another way, I'm not sure....

Geez, I may have put a dampener on the celebrations....sorry.

We've always gotta take these things into consideration.

Let's put a lighter spin on it and say that we have over 7000 members that 'are, or at the very least have been at one point, interested in' Wrong Planet.net.

How's that? :P

I love your signature by the way KBABZ, that line stuck out to me more than any other when I read LOTR as a kid.

Thanks! It was my favourite line as well, but the beginning of the book was kinda slow. But I trudged on to my personal better bits to my releif, such as Helm's Deep, Pippin at Minas Tirith, and Frodo and Sam in Mordor. I was glad when I heard that line in the film, and the look on Gandalf's face! (I also liked how he knocked his head in Bag End!)

In addition, I also like some of the other 'punch lines' in the movies that other book fans don't, such as 'Great! Where are we going?', 'Not the Beard!', 'Don't tell the Elf' and 'That still only counts as one!' As you can tell, Gimli gets most of these.

KBABZ, I like that line 'don't tell the Elf', do you mind if I pinch it for my signature? I'm after a new one and it goes with my ears!

Nah, I don't mind. Using my auditorily photographic memory of Lord of the Rings, I shall replicate those scenes for you:

"Nobody tosses a dwarf!" *jumps and slips, Legolas grabs Gimli*
"Not the beard!"

"Ah, c'mon, I can make the jump, we can take 'em!"
"It's a very long way."
"...toss me."
"What?"
"I cannot make the distance, you'll have to toss me!" "...Uh, don't tell the elf."
"Not a word."

Here's one from the Extended Version you'd might like as well (rent it out or something to see it), from the aftermath of Helm's Deep:

"Final count... 42"
"42!? That's not bad for a pointy-eared elvish princeling! I myself am sitting high on 43!"

And it goes on with Legolas shooting the Uruk Gimli is sitting on:
"43!"
"He was already dead."
"He was twitching!"
"We was twitching, because he's got my axe, embedded in his NERVOUS SYSTEM!"

Oddly enough, Starbuline thinks I look like Legolas, just with shorter hair that's a dark brown.
