Autism and mainstream you say? Preposterous. Maybe so, but continue reading.

Ever since I became cognizant of the effects that music can have on my personality/attitude, I am not without some sort of music at any part of the day, save classes/intellectual moments. For example, if I am angry, even irate, I will pull up some Eminem, or the like. Something to which I can relate, decipher, and understand. If I'm feeling jovial, rather pleased, I will find some classic rock, like The Beatles. The list goes on and on. Anyway, I recently discovered that the so called "hipster indie" music is able to handle all of my moods, to calm me down, if you will. By no means do I want to be a "hipster"; I do not fit, psychologically, with that social group. Being said, I try to stray away from being labeled as the "weird shy kid"; however, while listening to said mainstream indie rock, I get the impression that I need to talk the talk, as well as walking the walk. While I do enjoy listening to that type of music, something tells me that the impression I give people is that of a poser, or one who tries to fit in, yet does not.

I don't really know if this is posing a question, however, I would like to reach out while at the same time, be reached to, if you will. Maybe I'm just a nut case.

That would have made you a mid-90s goth. But I see where you're going with it; lots of us are tagged as posers when in reality they feel forced to wear the costume of their cliques

Hey man listen to what you want...one should not have to fit a certain stereotype to listen to certain music....I'm sure I even listen to some 'hipster' music but I'm more of a metalhead than anything when it comes to music......though I love psychedelic rock which some of this alleged 'hipster' music sounds a lot like.

I mean its like people who think they have to fit a certain stereotype to listen to metal....there are all kinds of people who listen to metal some of them are successful people, some are straight(not as in not gay, but don't even drink or smoke cigarettes let alone use any other drugs, some of them are mental people like me just trying to figure out which way to go in life. I imagine it's the same way with other music.
