today i went deaf. not REALLY though,so dont get all concerned(i mean if you would anyway...). actually, i think i stopped understanding english,or language in general, for a while. people were talking to me and i was HONESTLY trying to listen, but i couldnt grasp any of it, for the most part. this was from lunch till school got out. it was really loud and bright and confusing today(more than usual, i guess i got to used to being on holiday...). people were either screaming(i understood THAT) at me or asking if i was ok(apparently my eyes kept going "foggy"or id be staring mouth agape). i spent most of this time with my eyes squezzed shut(bright lights give me migranes)my hands over my ears, and rocking(SLIGHTLY, i was more or less aware of it). i actually cried at school today(thankfully, not in front of any1 who'd make me wanna dissapear later.)it got so bad. i've had this happen befor, but no where NEAR this bad! anyone else have something kinda like this happen? i'd like to know...ugh, i feel stupid now

Mind you, I'm no expert, but my first instinct is to suggest that this sentence is the root of your particular evil here. The more loud and bright it is, the less I can understand people, and if I get overwhelmed my difficulties hearing will last longer than the stimuli that cause it. Even when things are relatively peaceful I will have problems with what I call "creative hearing"... where what the person said has little or nothing to do with what I heard.

Once, I was working in a TexMex restaurant in Alabama, and during a lunch rush I heard a song on the radio that caused me to completely lose it with laughter. It was so bad that I had to set my tray down at the nearest table.

"What's so funny?"
"This SONG!"
"Huh? This is one of the most popular country songs out now..."
[new paroxysm of laughter]
"WHAT???"
"I just never thought I'd hear that on a country station."
"What, 'I lay me down to cheat?' Dude, this is country music."
"Oh, THAT'S what it said. Okay, never mind."
"What did you hear?"
"Never mind!"
"Nono, the whole restaurant is staring at you. Out with it."
[pause]
"Now I lay me down with sheep."

Fortunately, the crowd saw the humour in it.

I wish I was better with computers. Then I would make a commercial to inllustrate what is happening...

Imagine a girl with a frying pan in one hand ,and an egg on a table....

"this is your brain" *points to egg

*Hits egg with frying pan

"this is your brain on information overload"

"any questions?"

Well said. Though I would put the egg in the microwave, with a spine-curdling beep every second, getting louder and louder, until the egg explodes.
