Maybe this is a weird question, but I do this, and wonder if others do. When I'm looking at somebody, no matter how attractive, I find myself taking the person apart like a puzzle. I'll hone in on the nose and look at it seperately and notice things that others probably don't. Sometimes I'll concentrate on their lips or teeth while they're talking and get absorbed in that more than the conversation, although I always know what they are saying. By the time I'm done taking the person's face apart, I may not find them so attractive anymore! The funny thing is, I'm face blind. If I run into the person that I've dissected fifteen minutes later, there's a good chance I won't remember who it is . I do this dissecting to myself too.

I am not faceblind (though sometimes i will forget i talked to someone earlier that day) i do 'dissect' faces... i sometimes just stare at someone's nose if i don't want to talk to them. Or look at each part of someones face then put it back together. i will sometimes see someone differently. and it almost like i don't know them with that different veiw...

I think so, not sure. I do however, get obsessed with a certain kinds of faces, even mannequins. I used to "visit" this mannequin and stare at it. Before I knew better, I used to follow people around in the store if something about them struck my fancy; a glittery ornament, pleasant nose, or interesting hair. It almost felt like a crush, with no sexual overtones. :?

I really concentrate on peoples teeth for some reason. It's annoying because I do it automatically and I will be talking to someone for a few minutes when all of a sudden I realize I spent the entire time looking at their teeth.

So in considering attraction to females, I tend to find attraction in a nice set of teeth

I do this too. I think it's part of the problem why I don't recognize people well or out of their context. I cannot memorize a complete face, only parts. When I try to see the whole picture, it all gets blurry or it just isn't there. It's not only with people I don't really know well. I cannot memorize my daughter's face for instance. I can only make somewhat of an impression. I can make a picture of her eye or eyes, but not of her entire face.

All the time. Teeth are always the first thing I look at when I see people, but I will look at each of their features, and probably be able to describe them in such detail it gives people the creeps.

I'm very fond of nice looking teeth. I think it is good value to invest in braces.

This is exactly how it is with me. I used to not be able to see even parts of a face, but over the years, I realized that not seeing faces was totally not normal and that I needed to try harder. I eventually got myself to the point that I can see individual features, but only one feature at a time.

That helps me to recognize people sometimes. I can dissect their facial features one at a time and then make a list of them in my head, for instance:

Bob:
Blue eyes
Large nose
Full lips for a man

Sometimes that will help me recognize him later, because I can re-dissect the features when I run into the person, then try to match up the list of features that I see now with one of the lists in my head that has a name attached to it.

I tend to do a bit of the same thing - incidentally, I think it was one of the Baron-Cohen studies looking at ASD vs. NT controls in reading emotions in eye expressions, where the NT's could read the emotions more accurately, but the ASD group could tell the gender of the person just from the eyes more accurately - no doubt a visual detail thing.

I notice facial charateristics and details a lot. I also get easily distracted by less attractive feaures such as a hairy mole, and I sort of home in on it and think "hairy mole, I am a mole and I live in a hole" how very childish. I just feel like my eyes swoop in on details all the time. I have acute hearing too so some times certain voices, sounds are very irritating. I do aggravate myself...

I am attracted to men with unusual teeth. Which means probably not straight and perfect but just somehow quirky.

how can you not dissect faces?sometimes i'll look at faces and see what i consider wrong with the face that i'm looking at. symmetry/asymmetry. but that doesn't mean that i like even-ness in a face. the flaws or quirks can be what makes the person the most attractive afterall.
