When Interests and Obsessions Collide.

Do any of your obsessions and special interests ever "cross-over" one another? One of my biggest special interests is drawing/art/sketch/paint etc. My current obsession is actually the video game Dragon Age Origins (I am about to beat the expansion, btw yay!). I took a break because I am at the final boss "the mother" and I was getting stressed out because she is a pain. So I diverted to another special interest . . . and this is what happened.

I just always have trouble getting stuff "out of my system". Anyone had this happen before and does it happen frequently? I would like to see what cross-over obsessions my WP buddies have.

Only one I can think of right now for me would be watching the Kings play hockey and then having to play on the NHL game. It becomes a need to do so if the Kings lose. I HAVE to then play the game exactly as it was on tv and beat the other team just to feel better I suppose as well like you, I love to draw/paint/sketch and will often end up sketching Kings players or the badge

I'm not sure if writing fan fiction counts, but I've always loved to write fiction and once when I had an obsession with Stargate, I wrote some Stargate fan fiction. But I lost interest in the fan fiction a long time ago and it no longer exists anymore.

I have combined my special interests with a budding career path (university) where I am fully immersed in them. It raises eyebrows among people generally, but not among my profs. I am called 'passionate' and an 'enthusiast'. I am home

I knit, make jewelry and do photography, so I've made jewelry by knitting wire, then photographed it.

If you want to see it, I'll have to change my avatar to it because most photo-sharing websites are blocked at work. Unfortunately, the best one I did, a cuff bracelet with sterling silver wire and pearls, sold before I could photograph it and I can't afford to buy more wire.

Wow all of these sound awesome! You could try putting your pictures on devianart, that is what I did with my photographs.

Most of my special interests revolve around certain fictional characters and I have always loved doing artwork, so I combine the two by doing fanart. I will draw characters from one show/movie that I love in the style of another (for example, drawing Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter as a My Little Pony) or take two characters I love and make a pairing out of them (for example, Johnny Depp's Barnabas Collins with Marceline from Adventure Time)

That sounds really awesome. I did another dragon age piece, its ugly too. The portrait of a darkspawn. So I guess ugly is appropriate. I also like to cook so there was a time when I was combining fiction with my cooking such as the period I was obsessed with Little Monsters. I just HAD to make peanut butter and onion sandwiches. (I still love them and eat them regularly).
