It seems more and more of my generation seem to be focused on drugs and alcohol now if this is something you enjoy then do it BUT I get very stubborn and defensive if anyone even hints at offering me anything
This has caused a few friends to no longer be as close but it's not me being a dick it's the fact once I am taught something that is all I will do is that normal behaviour or another thing I should bring up in the aspergers assessment that is hurtling towards me

Cheers for any feedback oh and my special interest is parasites and illness and also insects lol
:D :D

I don't drink or do drugs either. I have never been into it. And I also want to do the "right" thing all the time, it has always been very important to me, probably because I was programmed to do it when I was young. Those things stick to me, I know that. I don't want to be anything less than what my upbringing told me to be.

you have to start somewhere : )

for people that have been here a while these kinds of topics are kind of overused, but don't worry.

Just keep what you said in mind and stick to your good ways, even if it does mean losing friends. But I wouldn't exactly say you were stubborn and defensive-just smart and caring more about your health and staying out of trouble. It is better than losing friends who weren't friends in the first place if they try to get you to try booze and drugs.

well my brother who drinks and occasionally uses some drugs said i am because i dont even entertain the idea that these things can be beneficial alcohol can be a social lubricant as it were and drugs can be used in the same way but in my mind its that if you use them to get along socially there is something not right with that situation..

I've always been a sort of goody two shoes. I've never touched any illegal drugs or even tried smoking. I've been told that these things are bad for me and I shouldn't touch them, so I don't. I've done my own research and what I've read fits in with what I was told as a child/teenager, so I'm happy that I've made the right choices and I wasn't being given a bum steer. Illegal drugs are illegal, so I wouldn't even go there, for that reason alone. I will not break the law, unless the law is stupid, in my opinion, and fit to be broken. So far, no laws in my country have gone against my way of thinking, so I'll keep being a law abiding citizen, for now anyway. I'm not aversed to alcohol, although I seldom ever touch it. For me alcohol is OK, because it's been proven to be fine for most people, so long as it's drunk in moderation. So, if I keep to the rules, I'm fine with it, but the amount I drink is way less than 'in moderation'. However, I have been tipsy a few times, but never drank before I was of the legal age to buy alcohol (18yrs here).

everyone breaks the law on a weekly basis, if you think you dont you havent read enough laws.

that said, drugs and alcohol have an effect, sure, are they inherently bad?
no, they are only as bad as the person who use them allows them to be.

this is not to say everyone should do x y z, only that x y z isnt inherently anything.

hint there are illegal drugs with far less impact than alcohol(something that is quite easy to prove even, been done hundreds of times on these boards)

Oodain it is that exact response that makes no sense to me the things are illegal for a reason.
I personally believe that it's up to you what you do but when people go down the "it's not as bad as x y z" but in this case I really shut off listening as you are now trying to make x y z's use correct or at least morally worth it I think that's the correct word...

Drugs?
No, not a chance.

A drink now and again?
Why the hell not.

Life's too short.

Never seen the appeal of drugs at all. I've had drinks before and gotten drunk before but again, it doesn't really appeal, at least more so now. I won't bash anyone for wanting to do what they want but I do question why they do it so much. People who tend to use 'it's fun' 'it chills you out' etc.. especially when it comes to weed  Why do people seem to need something to help them have fun or chill out or 'be social' ? I just don't get it at all. I can do all of that without things altering my mind. A good majority of people I've come across that use drugs and drink a lot, they think they're fun to be around but in reality they're simply not. One friend of mine used to drink pretty much every week out at clubs, she then started going every few weeks or so and in the last year or so, she started getting pains in her arms whenever she did have a drink. Again it leaves me to question, why keep drinking when you know full well it's causing pains that shouldn't be there? All of it seems to come down to the act of being social. Just not worth it at all in my opinion.

I've done my share of (probably more than, actually) drink and drugs, but I never understood why people pick on those who don't want to. It's none of my business, and it's their life.

I had an acquaintance who was always pressuring his friend to drink, knowing full well that alcoholism ran in the friend's family and that he chose not to take the risk. That really bothered me.

Please tell me which laws I might be breaking, cos I don't think I am. I suppose there might be some really old laws, that have never been thrown out. But, they are not upheld by anyone and breaking those would be OK in my book anyway.
