I've been having anxiety/depression problems for a few weeks now, and have been unable to sleep soundly through the night. That is, until last night when my room was particularly cold (they keep the dorm rooms really cold for some reason) and I decided to sleep with my Finding Nemo blanket on top of my soft (but thin) Cars blanket. I loved the pressure of the two blankets on top of me...it felt like a long, constant hug from someone comforting me. :D I also had all my stuffed animals with me in bed, too, and that also helped.

My Nemo blanket was given to me by a friend I met in group therapy years ago, and it's one of those handmade blankets made out a heavy kind of fleece with the ends knotted together. It's a pretty big blanket....big enough to cover my whole body. I think it provides the kind of "pressure" input I like and find soothing.

I love both my blankets....I love having blankets from my two favorite Disney/Pixar movies. :D Does anyone else use "heavy" blankets in order to sleep during the nights due to the "pressure input" they give you, or do you prefer lighter covers, or none at all?

I love sleeping under heavy blankets. Good pressure = a good night's sleep. :)

Works for me too, but hard to accomplish. Here in Texas, most of the time it's too hot to sleep with any blankets. Yes, we have A/C and ceiling fans, but electricity is high and I can't afford to crank it down to 50 degrees just so I can use more blankets. It is starting to get cooler here now -- in the 50s tonight -- so I can sleep with the windows open and bundle up!

That's why I use a small weighted blanket -- it's only 42" by 36" but that's enough to cover much of me, while not completely block air flow. By making it so small, I was also able to keep the weight down, while making it heavy enough for me.

Heavy is good for me

I dont know the secret to good sleep. Some times it just happens for me. Mostly, though I dont get good sleep, and have restless nights.

Though I too must have weight in order to sleep properly, it doesn't come from a blanket, though I use one to cover my "crackular region" when sleeping at someone else's place (tossing and turning excessively makes my clothes move around, potentially revealing parts of myself others really do not need to wake up to seeing).
