Okay to make a long story short, I enjoy math and logic greatly. I struggle with higher level algebra and geometry even though it is my favorite. I am wonderful at mental math and do it constantly. If I see something then usually I will make a mental math problem out of it. For example, on day I was at Walgreens and I walked by a freeze pop sale that said 100/$4. I wasn't interested in buying them but I decided I was going to figure out the cost of each freeze pop. So, I mentally began to solve the problem in my head quietly. Not telling anyone just quietly doing mental math in my head which I loved to do. I learned my multiplication tables first in my math group (special ed though) in 4th grade and still know them more than most NT'S. Division as well of coarse. I am also good with fractions, decimals, percents, and probability. I love computers. I have also always had good grades in science. I got A+'s almost all the time in elementary school. Then in Junior high I got B's mostly with a C here and there and a few A's. Then in High school I took bio and got B-'s and C's. and in Chem I got all B's for quarter and B, B-, A-. B for cumm. It just comes natural to me.

On the flip side, I am not good at drawing and artistic things. But I love to cook. I also love to write children's stories and make up my own games. I have made a Christmas board game and a Halloween Wheel of Fortune Game. I have a lot of creativity. I also pick up on learning languages really well. I took 3 years of French and the lowest I got was a B. I got my fair share of A's too.

A lot of people say that I am left brained for sure. What do you guys think? How can I tell for sure which side is more dominant since I possess traits in both?

Im ambidextrous so i should be both, thats what i think.

But im usually almost genious level in logical thinking, but when it comes to language, even that i have learned english without help, and some french and some portugues, i dont think im good at it, also when i have to write essays, people often tell me that im a good writer, but i just think im not, i dont even find how to express myself very well, and sometimes i write something and i feel like a lot more than what i write is missing.

So really i dont know what hemisphere of my brain is the dominant, also i would like you to read about the quadrant brain dominance, i think by hemisphere is now discarted, not totally but they think right now in four quadrants.

Not again!

This left brain right brain crap is just that -- crap. It is a myth.

Can find just one real neuroscientist who goes along with it? Just one. Can you?

Out of all the subjects listed, I am bestest at science and art.

I'm good at science, logic, history and writing, so what does that make me? For the record, I was tested as a child and was found to be very left brain dominant and in the 97th percentile for left brain intelligence but only around the 40th percentile right brain.

The language center of the brain is usually in the left hemisphere, though it is commonly thought to be a right-brained activity.

The brain is far too interconnected to be segmented that clearly.

But if you're curious, I'm an artistic savant, a language savant, good at math (both geometry and algebra) and enjoy the sciences, as well as am obsessed with history.

That theory doesn't hold up with my "weird" brain.

Even if this left/right brain stuff was true, how would languages be a part of the right hemisphere?
Unless you're good at creative writing, linguistics itself is very much like logic and math.
It is a way of labelling and expressing data. It has many rules.
I really love linguistics.

I have NVLD, so it's likely I have right brain hemisphere dysfunction. That said, every online quiz I've had has been dead even for both sides, 50/50. Occasionally I'll score barely uneven like, 52% right brain, 48% left, I've probably gotten 2-3 results of 52% right, and 48% left, but I've gotten 1-2 52% left, 48% right.

As far as things in real life. I dunno. As a kid I used to be reasonably good at drawing. Then I just stopped in middle school, and I suck terribly at drawing now. I'm a very verbal thinker, but I can and do visual things, though I have to purposely visualize, and I have terrible navigation skills as I can only like, go by landmarks. I have like no natural sense of direction.

Why does it matter? It could as well be distributed evenly. There is no good reason for the dominance of one hemisphere.

The whole "right vs left brain" crap is nonsense, it's a urban myth created bymisinterpretation of data and people being bad at explaining things. Anyway, I'm left-handed, so that means I'm probably right brain dominant.

Ignoring the sides of the brain, which really don't work in a magical left=logical and right=creative way ... I actually have strong cultural and strong technical skills. I read literature, love language and grammar, happily discuss classic novels, and studied psychology and sociology, and yet ... I program computers, score very high in mathematics, and like trying to write my own operating system and compilers. I also work in IT. When I did an online "brain dominance" test once, I scored 50/50.

My brain is ambidextrous! It doesn't take sides.

What if I hate math and suck at it, yet my analytical and logic abilities are far above average? I have mixed dominance as per real, live neuropsychological testing as far as handedness, footedness, and "eyedness" is concerned. I was told I do not have a dominant side of my brain.

Unless you have severe brain damage, I have never really understood how all of this is supposed to work anyway.

On every test I take, I turn up left-brained. The description of the left brain describes me perfectly. The subjects you listed; however, are not my specialities. I have trouble with abstractness, so I can do general math, but not the advanced abstract stuff. I also dislike abstract science (which might not seem abstract to scientists, but it is to me). I am really good at picking up languages (very factual and rule-laden); I am good at remembering dates for history classes (again: very straight-forward). I am being educated as a theologian--a subject that seems very abstract to many but is very straightforward for me. That being said, I still believe the tests that say I am left brained are correct, since all the other characteristics apply to me.
