I'm not. Is this an aspie thing?

It seems to be very common, yes.

I have never been into fashion at all.

Short answer : no.
Long answer : no, and I probably never will be.

I think it's quite common for aspies to either not care about fashion, or just not pick out the difference between "good looking" and "bad looking".

I'm not into fashion either.

I care about how I look but I dress in whatever I feel comfortable in and I don't think labels and "the latest" are important things. So I'm not sure if that's a yes or a no. Probably somewhere in between.

I've found the majority are not.

For us, it only is something we're only into if it is one of our interests/focuses, which is rare; and in that case, we're fairly extreme, as one would expect.

Karl Lagerfeld is suspected to have Asperger's, but doesn't really care to be bothered to have it figured out or not.



I think most true genius designers are on the spectrum.

Obviously, it's one of mine.

Note (per the person above me), I don't care much about labels, either (they all siphon off truly 'edge' people in a pattern) - I'm simply pointing out an example of how it works on the spectrum.

I went through a phase where I wanted to dress like an adult and it was to try and attract men so I can get a guy.

I dress for comfort and non-awkwardness, if that makes any sense. Sometimes wearing a certain outfit makes me feel weird and kind of grossed out, like using someone else's toothbrush would. Sometimes I feel the need to stay home because nothing feels right. However, the next day it might be fine. So I try to wear only what feels right that day, and it will always be something comfortable. Sometimes it's stylish in its own way, but usually not on purpose.

It was one of my special interests for a while, although you'd never guess by looking at my closet. I looove textiles.

I do like to look presentable, and I wear things that make me blend in and look nice, but I'm not highly into fashion like some people are. I don't go out looking bizarre or unusual enough to get people taking the mickey or anything like that. But I don't go out all dolled up like I'm going to a prom (trust me, some people do dress like this, but I think that is going too far for casual everyday wear). I don't see what the fascination is with all these long cardigans these girls are wearing these days. Yuk!

I'm better in the summer, though, where I can wear a T-shirt, shorts (denim), and sandals, with sunglasses and a summery handbag. I look really ''cool'', and I hardly get anyone looking at me funny. In the depths of winter I'm all right too, because I have one of those hats that they all wear, and black scarf and gloves with a white coat, and skinny jeans with boots, and I feel so trendy that I hardly get odd stares either. It's the inbetween temperatures where I feel the most untrendy and get the most odd looks from people, like at the moment it's at a time of the year where it's too mild to wear a thick coat and gloves, but too chilly to wear just a T-shirt, so I just go out with a light zippy jacket with jeans and trainers, and people seem to have a problem with me wearing a light zippy jacket with jeans and trainers because at the moment I'm getting the most odd stares.

Im not either. That for girls and gay guys.

The only world in which I am considered fashionable is that of late 80's punk. I have a bunch of facial piercings and a mohawk with which I normally wear baggy jeans, geek/band baggy t-shirt and a leather jacket. If I have to wear anything else I usually have to take guidance from my wife who seems to have the sense to understand which arbitary garments go with which.

but seriously, i like to look relatively neat and clean, but need to feel comfortable. that means nothing tight or constricting, nothing heavy in my hair, no make-up, no perfumes......... i have a penchant for Sesame Street shirts. i guess that's about as close to fashionable as i get

I like to wear stuff that is comfortable and helpful in my life-I wear skater shoes because of the flat sole but I am older and do not skateboard but they help me walk and keep my balance and feel good on my feet and I like to wear jeans,t-shirts,hoodies and stuff like that because it feels comfortable-people may not like me wearing whatever brand of stuff that fits good for me and oh well I may not be in the target demographic but I look decent-I hope.

I'm not into fashion. I like what I like, but I don't follow fashion trends. I'm often told I dress in a strange, formal and old fashioned way but I don't really care. I like things that are soft and comfy and cover me up. I think I must save a lot of money compared to many of the women I know, because I don't buy things that go out of fashion quickly (and if I did, I would wear them anyway!).
