I have always LOVED access to information. Databases and DBMS are amazing concepts. But I think I am addicted to internet access. We are moving (again, seems to happen almost every winter o,o) and we will try to be finished by tomorrow but will not have our internet service transferred till Friday (yeah >,< stupid appointments) thus I am trying to cram about four days of homework in a night and dreading having no internet access to check WP, my deviantart account or play Everquest Classic.

I wonder if autistics are more prone to get addicted to the internet than non auties, because we hunger for information so often. Probably not a true connection, but I am already feeling the possible downsides and how much I will have to reduce on time spent on special interests while I do not have access. It is troublesome.

It is not I who is addicted to electronic transfer of information, it is the NT populace who are addicted to archaic short range vocal audio and corresponding physical gestures.

If you have a laptop, coffee shops and fast food restaurants usually have free wifi. Those are life savers during an extended outage.

Same... I don't know how I used to cope without google!! (prob got a lot more done). If I am not on the internet on my laptop, there is always google on my phone... I seem to have a never-ending amount of questions to ask.

I am starting to think, however, that I need to do a self-ban for a while so I can get some other stuff done!!

Information is my addiction. The quiet, solitary flow of knowledge makes me happy. I avoid Wikipedia or I can literally get stuck on it for hours.

I love the internet because of the amount of information that can be easily accessed. I can spend hours researching random topics.

Exactly my problem. I feel almost void if I cannot have access to information. Books are a lifesaver, but I think I am hooked on the speed by which I can gather information on the internet. I am at the moment savoring my last moments with internet access until friday. I am doing homework, reading on a few topics and peeking in here. I hope I can make progress on the important stuff, but I gotta get some things out of my system!

To be out of the way of my roommates doing the heavy lifting i am in the bathroom with the laptop and lap desk! lol

Yes, this is a problem for me too. I wouldn't call it an "internet addiction" in the stereotypical sense of addiction, though. It's more that I have trouble deciding what to do, and the Internet is just so attractive that it's easier to just go online than figure out what I should be doing next. I'm currently looking for a program that will let me ration my Internet access, so that I can have enough time to think about whether I should be doing something else before I drift to the computer.

Even though I do not spend all of my waking hours at the pc, having internet access is like a blanket!

Well shutting down. No access for . .. a few days. I am gonna be cold.

TTFN WP see ya soon!

The internet is simply a great thing. Imagine being an Aspie without connection to internet. Hell, I wouldn't even know that I have it yet.

On the internet you can "meet" people you can't find in your social radius, tolerant people, specialists, and an insane amount of knowledge. And it requires no going outside or actual social contact. :P
