I'm pretty bored right now, screwing around on the internet, and came across this Yahoo question....

Sounds stupid, but seems like he has never heard of it before. If you've never heard of something, you can't very well know what it is...

Edit: although it seems a bit weird that she opened up about it, and then--instead of asking her about it--he runs onto yahoo to find out what it is. I'm sure she would have told him had he asked.

More like ignorance. That person clearly does not know what it is so instead of going online to look it up, he goes to YA to ask a stupid question. My husband wanted to make sure I wouldn't be chasing him with a knife so he went online and asked his online friend if she knows what it is. I laughed when he told me that story because chasing him with a knife? What made him think AS was some psychotic condition or a psychopath?

Aww. Usually the trolling is so much better on that site. Still stupid, but better.

I'm thinking this sounds more like someone drinking and typing in questions. The amount of energy to type a question into Yahoo is probably much more than typing one word into Google.

aha it's funny though because no one takes the bait. The answer is pretty calm and informative.

The SHRINK I went to for years had never even heard of "aspergers' before my family brought up the possibility that I might have it only a few years ago.

So one can hardly blame a young boy for not knowing what it is.

I seriously doubt it's genuine.

Not asking the girlfriend, and not doing a Yahoo search (or whatever search engine) to find out anything before posting question at Yahoo Answers?

Someone who can use Yahoo Answers can surely also use a search engine.

I thought the answer was fairly ignorant myself. Though it is common, not everyone with AS is a nerd/geek, and not all of us have high IQ's. Although I personally would be classified as "nerd-like" (self proclaimed, it's nice that people feel threatened by my intelligence ).
Also, the answer stated that AS can't be treated, which is also very ignorant considering that there are meds that help some people with the condition.

So, the blind leads the blind as it were.

YA is a trolling playground.

That the person who confessed his or her asperger's did not explain what it is, this sounds really bizarre and fishy. Maybe it's just someone with no time on their hands or maybe they're addicted to asking yahoo questions for some dopamine release when they get an answer. Who knows? Yes, this is an idiot. lol

What is an "idiot" really? It seems such labels are assigned based on a limited amount of information, or limited interactions with the person in question. Often, it seems to be based on social assumptions about and conflicts between what people supposedly should think vs. what people actually say they think.

It seems to describe a global incapacity that does not actually exist.
