I like tapping my feet or humming. Sadly both annoy my parents. Not sure what to use. :-)

when i was told to shut up by the rest of my family [as a kid] i would rhythmically breathe, and they would get mad at me for that also but they couldn't [legally] keep me from breathing.

i used to like making these great flapping faux-flatulant noises by placing the fleshy part of my palms against the corners of my mouth intersecting with the fleshy parts of my cheeks, and blow vigorously. this would calm me and make me feel better. but nobody else liked hearing it. i got in trouble in school for doing it. also i would firmly place the tip of my tongue about an inch from my upper front teeth on the roof of my mouth, and blow- it would make a "TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT" sound that i also found to be relaxing. sometimes i would combine that sound with flapping my lips, and that was even more satisfying. :)

When I am nervous or excited I go YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE or squeak / squeal. I like to go yeeeeeeow! It helps neutralize all the nervous energy and all the stuff going on in my mind or around me. My roommates are used to it and just laugh if I do it loud enough.

I tend to imitate animal, mechanical, and other environmental sounds (although this is not technically a stim. It's more echolalia or a tic) . I normally try to suppress this when at work or in other formal situations, but I was riding to a meeting with a new employeee a couple of weeks ago, when she turned on the radio about three miles into the trip. I immediately imitated the sound effects of the first radio ad she stopped on. She laughed as if I were trying to be funny, but I was actually a bit embarrassed.

Tapping, humming, singing, making weird noises with my teeth or tongue, reciting lines from movies or TV shows (in character, of course)... :P

I guess music outside of my head (ie, on my computer or iPad) is an auditory stim for me. I find it very soothing.

I am reminded of a time where I was tapping on the wall and my brother was getting upset with me because he found it annoying. I wasn't even fully aware I was doing it. 8O

Hmmm...I hadn't thought about it before, but yeah, I guess I do some of this. I like things with clicky sounds -- beads, retractable pens, and recently discovered the cool rattle-y sound of ivory dominoes. I used to howl like a wolf when I was a kid. I imitate animals from time to time -- we used to have a pet turkey that I could "talk" to by gobbling back at him when he was do it. If I hear a cow moo or a cat meow, I'll do it back at them. And I'll make noises when I'm bored -- I'll pig-snort or hit a high note. When I'm riding alone in my car, many times I'll sing rather than turn on the radio or a CD.

I imitate animals too. Always, whenever an animal talks to me, I mimic them. I don't think it's a stim, though, I just feel like I'm talking back in their language.

When I have extreme emotions I bring my arms close to my body, flap my hands, grin, and make this really high pitch eeeeeeeeee noise. It is really embaresing when I do it without thinking and people just stare or laugh at me

If I hear a tone or noise with a constant pitch, I'll automatically whistle or hum to match the noise and I'll vary the pitch to hear the two sounds resonate.
