From what I've read, anecdotal evidence says that husky / breathy voices are common in ASD's, but actual research shows little or no support for this.

My voice is normal pitch but VERY husky. What's your voice like?

How does one know if their voice is husky or not? I can't really tell the difference...?

I've been told that I have a husky voice a few times. I'm not bothered by it. I'm happy that I can talk. A lot of people on the spectrum need to find alternative ways to communicate.

I don't know what a husky voice means, but every type of voice seems to be related to ASDs here....which must mean NTs don't have any voice? :?

Husky is when it sounds like they have been shouting at the top of their voice for ages, or like they have a sore throat

I think my voice is more young-sounding than husky. I can make it sound husky, but that's because I have pretty flexible vocal chords. Must be from years of creating voices for my own cartoon characters and reading stories out loud. :)

Yes, there can be a wide range of differences which are much more common in the speech of high functioning autistics. For example, phrasing, stress, loudness, pitch, quality, laryngeal quality, and resonance quality to name but a few.

Welcome to the Wrong Planet - the place where everything in the world is a correlation of Asperger's. You name it and it will be a ''trait of Asperger's''.
