hey,

I was just wondering whether being easily overwelmed by work and constantly needing lists to keep track of things is an aspergers thing or not, i tend to get very overwelmed quite quickly and my brain gets muddled.

I don't know if it's an AS thing but I'm pretty much the same.

Happens to me too. That's why I've got a mentor at university who I meet once a week. She helps me make a schedule of what to study when etc. Without that it's like my brain freezes and I get completely overwhelmed by all the work and end up doing nothing.

yeah, my parents help me mostly, i juse need someone to help my go through it, it is difficult trying to get it done, but in the long run it is worse if you do nothing because it makes you panic more.

Yup. I write tons of lists. Tasks for each week. Then broken down into tasks for each day. I hav to be careful with how much I try to do, because I can get overwhelmed and panic.

I'm a list freak. I have to organize things to feel comfortable. Without lists I'm completely lost. When things are not organized, I get overwhelmed and I can't function.

I think it's reasonable to think it's related to AS though I don't have any evidence to support it. Needing routines and being inflexible are AS traits and I feel somehow this need for lists is related to those traits.

Possibly an AS thing but can happen in NTs as well. I'm similar and get overwhelmed when there's a lot of thing to do, and it helps for me to make a list and tick them off as I finish tasks.

Sounds like an executive function issue.

I can't live without lists. I hate feeling like I've forgotten something. Things have gotten so bad lately that I sometimes forget what I'm supposed to write down and then forget it. I will spend a long time trying to figure it out and won't be able to rest until I do.
