Finding a good psychologist or psychiatrist is harder than most people realize, and finding a good one that specializes in Asperger's Syndrome or Autism Spectrum Disorders is even harder. Can anyone here recommend a good professional in or near the San Francisco Bay Area for a twenty-something adult who is seeking a professional diagnosis? I was diagnosed with a non-verbal learning disability as child, essentially a neurologist's diagnosis for someone with Asperger's, diagnosed myself with Asperger's a few years ago before finding out about my childhood NLD diagnosis, and feel like an official diagnosis would help me with a few issues. So, any recommendations based on personal experience or at least word of mouth? If they take insurance that is a big plus, but I understand that the best specialists will not always take insurance. If anyone can point out a specific thread or website that answers this question, or knows of a forum-specific search feature that I somehow missed, feel free to chime in. Thanks in advance for the help, and I look forward to becoming an active member on the forum here.

P.S. If anyone is curious about NLD feel free to ask questions--I know of a good website and specifically a good article comparing NLD and Aspergers, although I have not made enough posts yet to include any links.

Psychology Today

From the link above you can find a clinical psychologist that specializes in ASD in your area. They even list prices. You can thank me later.

The 'Psychology Today' database of Therapists is a good resource. On searching for Therapists in the SF Bay Area, only a small few of the listings indicated Asperger experience in their biographies; that is detailed Asperger descriptions may be favorable.
